I am due to get another alloy rocker cover for my motorbike, but in the meantime, i need something that will seal it! I have tried chemical metal, i have tried mixing the usual araldite type tubes of stuff but to no avail! I have oil pouring out the top of the tiniest of splits in the top, and it runs down the side of the cover all over my lower leg boot and blows all down the side of the bike. you can only just see the split, but obviously it gets hot and then opens more, i just need something to tie me over for a week or so, i even went to see a fabricator who does alloy welding, but he has a machine that is too powerful! Surely there is something on the market that will withstand the heat? can anyone offer some advice? It is literally 10 to 15 mm long and about the width of a gnats moustache !

I've used one of those alloy "welding" (it's actually a fluxed solder) kits sucsessfully on A/C pipes.

Back in the day you could get an alloy rod type that was 'melted' in to seal cracks. Used it on a few crank cases on bikes.
There is a type on Amazon called Durafix easyweld

Let us know how you get on. I had to rebuild some broken find on a head, I bought some aluminium mig wire and some pure argon and built them up with weld. It was alot easier than I expected, so if the rods don't work that's always an option.

Well that was a waste of time, still, i now have a tiny wire brush in my toolbox! Tried with another epoxy and it has def' slowed it down, so i will re-apply more and hopefully that should get me out of trouble. The rod just didn't work, blowtorch, plenty of heat and no melting at all.

The crack is probably opening up during use with heat etc, putting a bead of something flexible like RTV over it might work.

The rod just didn't work, blowtorch, plenty of heat and no melting at all. Unfortunately the quality of those aluminium braze/weld kits is highly variable (or so I've found!). The first one I used was off a mate and it was perfect, the second I locally melted the parent ally before the rod even came close to melting. In fact Project Farm had a episode on it, and it looks like some of them are basically pedalling TIG wire!
