Retro Rides folks, it has been a while since we saw y'all. We have taken the deep dive to put on a few relaxed events to counterbalance a time when the world is somewhat topsy turvy. I thought I'd post this up because this forum has such a wonderful community, with a unique blend of automotive appreciation. As such, would you like to come to my gathering this weekend? The Late Brake Show first event in Kent at Betteshanger Park is this Saturday - August 7th www.thelatebrakeshow.com/kentIt's a relaxed 1 dayer featuring my project cars (V6 Allegro build, Nissan Cedric Tokyo taxi, '68 Charger, Beetle, Nissan Figaro, Suzuki Jimny), live chat with Jimmy DeVille (Goblin Garage) and Richard Porter (Grand Tour script editor and the other half of my podcast Smith & Sniff). Plus a selection of cars featured on the Late Brake Show youtube channel over the last year or so. That means EVs, restomods, a few barn finds and a few surprises... I’m happy to provide a 20% discount code for RR members (TLBSClub20 - which I’d appreciate you not sharing beyond this forum) as shown below, in the hope that you’ll bring some tasty/weird/classic/modified metal to display. If there is enough of an uptake, we might be able to dedicate a specific area for the RR cars. We shall see. This isn't a big show, as it's our first toe dip in the water! The website will show the venue and itinerary in detail, but Betteshanger is a country park with a grassy amphitheatre and plenty of cycle paths (feel free to bring a bike).

Really tempted and I'll hopefully make it. It'll be a 260 mile round trip and the Herald might be loaded with camping gear for my 250 mile trip to Wales on Sunday! 🤣

I really really wanted to head down from west London to this Johnny in my old Escort mk3 1.1 and someone offered me a bloody gig last night! unfortunately I cant turn it down considering the battering we've had in music. Hope to get down to the next one in either the Escort or my Capri (if its ever fixed). Gutted to be missing out this time!!! The displays and Idol Chats sounds amazing !!! Look forward to seeing the pictures. Will definitely keep my eye out for the next near by one

Aargh! I'm only down the road and I'd love to see the Allegro after watching it on YouTube (would've popped down in mine).
Sadly it's a mates birthday so I'm already booked up for that, hopefully next time, if anyone is going, take a camera!

Blimey, that is quite a journey! We should be doing another in Sept for the midlands. That's nothing. The first weekend in October will (hopefully) see the car doing 2000 miles in 48 hours. Google "round Britain reliability run" when you get a free minute (yeah, right). It might give you an idea for a video - stupid things car people do, just because they can. Fuzz Townshend tried once it in a Spitfire and made it halfway. 👍

Would love to be at this, alas the motor trade stops for no-one and Saturdays are tricky. Can we have a Sunday one sometime?

Having read this section on the link …
“ If you are arriving in something tasty, you will be parked accordingly on arrival.”
If we are fortunate enough to be parked accordingly, is access available to the vehicle for an early departure? I understand some events I have been to before require a period of time where the vehicles can not be moved.
Obviously parking in the ordinary parking would overcome this problem but it’s always nice to be surrounded by like minded metal.

Thank you David, and thanks to everyone who is reading this thread and considering bringing something retro (or coming down in a poo box and hiding it in the general carpark) So the question is, where would my S10 be put? Is it interesting enough or will it be hidden behind a tree in the general carpark ?

If you want to display your vehicle - you can! You can rock up and get tickets on the gate, but you won't get the discount.
