All of my retros have been daily drivers and therefore I've never been able to really go to town on the for the risk of not being able to get to work the next day.
I've been searching for something easy to work on as I have limited knowledge, tools, space and time.
This weekend I'm excited to say, I'm picking up a Fiat 126p.
My preferences were something air-cooled, and super easy to work on. Beetle or 126
A 1997 Fiat 126p came up near me, exactly the right condition for me, not a shell but not a showroom model.
Something is up with the spark plugs or timing apparently and the only things that need doing for the MOT is to fasten the battery, and buy a warning triangle.
I want to rebuild an engine if I can. Something I've always wanted to accomplish.
Question is, how far should I go?
I want to restore it but not to showroom quality.
I want to drive it, but know it's sound.
How do you decide how far to go with a restoration?
The pictures I have so far.
