1993 BMW 520i (E34)
Quick Summary
Colour: Alpine White
Interior: Parchment Leather
Engine: 2. 0L six cylinder 24v (M50)
Gearbox: Manual 5 Speed
Mileage: 165k (increasing as in light use)
MOT: 26/ 01/ 2022
Previous Keepers: 5 (including myself)
Originally this was purchased by a Tyco Toys executive in November 1993 from Cooper Reading. He kept it for four years covering just under half of this car’s current mileage (70k). Since 1997 it has been in single family ownership handed down from Grandad to Mother to Grandson! As such it has an absolutely unrepeatable history with 23 stamps in the book (mainly main dealer or specialist), which sits to this day within the complete book pack with Handbook, Service Locator, and Business Cards.
Exterior wise, the body is straight and generally wears it’s miles well but being an old car she’s not perfect - there are the odd marks and touch in for stone chips and surface corrosion etc…. However for a car that’s 28 years old and has been around the Earth 6 times, it’s decent and draws admiring glances wherever it goes. It’s set off by factory shadowline and a set of the iconic cross spoke BBS wheels all round with recent (in the last year or two) Kuhmo Tyres.
Interior in full parchment leather likewise wears it’s miles well, is in generally good condition only a little wear and tear here and there gives the game away Drivers Bolster, predictably is the most obvious. My favourite feature is the twin armrests on the front seats, epic for comfort!
Mechanically, it’s been impeccable. The 24V engine sounds glorious and is so much more charismatic than the 518i that on paper is very similar. The manual gear box makes it so much better to drive than an automatic – much more direct and connected to the experience.
In my ownership it’s had the following new parts (unless stated)
Genuine Wipers
Various bulbs and a sidelight socket
Powerflex Axle Mounts
Lemforder Pitman Arms
Bosch Serpentine Belt
Bosh Fuel Filter
Genuine Fuel Hoses and Lines
Genuine Rear Bumper Mounts (Refurbished)
Genuine Rear Window Mechanism (used)
Genuine Exhaust Rubber
Eibach Sportline Springs (x4)
Genuine Fuel Tank Straps
2x new rear brake lines
Before that there are recent invoices for tyres, clutch, slave, so many of the big bills are covered. Last serviced in Jan 2021 when the MOT was done.
House purchase forces regrettable sale, due to current market with prices continually increasing I need to divert all of my funds towards this! I bought this an interesting but reasonably priced daily driver. It’s been utterly reliable in over 1, 000 miles since purchase and I would genuinely take it anywhere.. It has the desirable 24V engine, BBS wheels, and leather interior.
Please note it will revert to it’s original L registration, my private plate is not included. Happy to take you out for a drive to demonstrate how lovely this car is, please no time wasters.
