Ran a MkV Escort 1.8 LX TD on Veg for a few thounsand miles.
Yes, I know that engine wasn't meant to run on it, but it was £300 with 12 months ticket, so we figured, why not?

I have a '57 Fordson E1A diesel tractor. What're the odds it'll run on vegetable oil?

I had an old citroen zx estate, it would run on any old curse word, veg oil, used engine oil, brake fluid, I just poured anything into the tank 😄 no seriously I would use anything to top up the diesel, everything but veg oil I'd mix with diesel, but with veg oil it would run on pure clean oil or strained used oil, it preferred the used oil, but would run on brand new veg out of the bottle. Whatever I used I could easily tell if it was too much for the car as the pump had a valve on top that would leak if the mixture was too thick. If that happened I'd just top up the tank with diesel to thin out the mix. Loved that car... it was a tank.
