to be honest no idea what kind of cad package is used, i do only the drawing like it should look and rest will be done by a guy working only with cad, having the same critical eye i have. So i start with slightly ugly handdrawing or sketch like this telling him which curves i would like to see and he is doing it on the computer Iam working like stone age, but open to new efficient things

when ready car will look like this, so different front wheelarch and a slightly longer rear end and more wheelbase. Already took all nice areas from the different versions i like in one model, when finished it should be influenced by the 312PB, but not a copy from. I try to eliminate the areas iam not that happy with the design from the original. But at the end the customer decide the way to go....
only would like to tell iam still alive, but not productive on my project...

I'd prefer the arches to sweep out with full curvature rather than be a separate arch, but maybe the panel below could remain where it is to make some scoops.vents

I cant remember where, but I saw a pic of your build in a thread somewhere. Saying it was a barn find of a 60s sports car, in the mountains in Germany. Poster was wanting to bring to UK but thought new brexit rules would be too complicated !

Have been a while i posted news about the project. Other projects let me stop working on the CB5, now the next chapter started! After short discussion with Chris Welsh from Tribute Automotive we decided to bring the car to uk for all those finish details needed to mold the body and develop the conversion kit. So the project will speed up again, now in the professional hands of Chris. Together we talk about details he will start with in a couple of weeks! Bad weather with snowstorm, orkan and heavy rain stopped the transport actions a couple of times last days, at the end the car was going to be wrapped complete to survive that bad wheater conditions. first time proud to show the side view, even wrapped its possible to imagine the flowing lines from the fastback shape i.ibb.co/s1X9RXm/Resized-20220221-103853.jpg

even the front hood looks longer than it actually is, size is the same the donor car has, so its a optical illusion i was working hard to get without more overhang front and rear of the body. Because of the weather i could not bring out the car without covering, so pictures from uncovered will follow soon Get the information car is already at his workshop in UK will be unwrapped and a couple of pictures will be i.ibb.co/wLQQ5JQ/20220223-073544-resized-1.jpg

Chris has got the car now, arrived without any damages UK. So first time to see the proportions unwrapped. Hope you like it like i do, was a long way to set up the lines in that harmonic way, short overhang to stay compact but with the illusion of a much longer car. Now the car will be finished in and outside, Chris will do it ready for production, so still a hell of work

I would have loved to see what you could have done with less rigid regulations regarding the original panels.

i don't think about what could be... at the end i like to drive and have fun with. Its hard enough here to find someone from TÜV willing to work with something not that normal, and its so easy for them to say "NO" to risk nothing. Thats why i work 100% on the legal side, don't want to fight a year to get my car legal. Maybe this limits the way to get the 100% perfect shape, but I'm still happy with that little sexy thing.

Can't wait to see a comparison between the mx5 and the finished product! Here, there is an mx5 club that has pretty regular meets. It would be pretty great to show up with this!

Not meant to be anything negative about your this project, Meant as a compliment to your talents and would like to see them unleashed on a clean sheet of paper. Pete

Didnt have any negative feeling about your reply its like most in live you have to live with compromises, and being a little fish in the big automotive world you have to try best. But that mean no budget for own lights, no production of your own glass, and 100s of tests if you even do your own chassis suspension and so on. (at least here in Germany) So for a relative easy to do rebody knowing in worst case all the time and money spend could be for that 1 car only is maybe the reason no one tries to do.
Would be easy to buy for same kind of money a nice used Porsche or what ever and have troublefree fun with.
But i think most of us here in that forum think different, happy to do , to create something special and happy to show others how they spend their time and being proud about.
I always wanted to know if iam able to create something special i could be in love with the look, the fun driving and the costs , for me i made it happen and iam proud about people telling they like it as well.
Will be more than happy if there will be a couple of people sharing with me the feeling to have something special at home to enjoy. Lets look what will happen from summer on.....
