Also some news on possibly finding the dealer that sold it, the VG suffix on the plate points it to the Norwich DVLA office, the Renault dealer there is now known as Holden Renault but back then was Reliance Garage. I've found this mock up of a dealer sticker on a chaps R5 rebuild on Pistonheads but now I need to find someone with some original plates from the 1990's so I can get the logo and details copied and then reproduced by Retro Plates.. (check out instagram for them).

Wonder if a G9U out of a later Trafic would go in. Would haul well then, they're a stonking engine. It is the original type S9U in here, 100% mechanical, no electronics at all, which I like very much... but you're right, does need more stonk.. Interesting history on the S9U, this 2.5L version was already the third displacement change for it and it went on to be enlarged twice more up to 3.0L. This one uses the 8140.07 version that makes a whole 76hp at 4000rpm and Renault used on the early models of Messenger, Master and Trafic. Used in all sorts including up to 2005 on the Fiat Ducato and 2004 on the Iveco Daily.. and still in production right now for FPT - Fiat Power Train as a marine engine.. The thing I would like to know is was there a compression ratio change between the NA and turbo 2.5L motors and if so, by how much..

Lets get back to that party button though... Great success. I'm not sure if I've actually physically laughed out loud at a retrorides post in a long time, That's phenomenal! Were these pre-existing or have you added them? Static or have we got colour and flash control too? I feel the 2cv needs green. I would generally be expecting a low-blow turbo set-up to appear soon, but you're not one for the expected, so I'm gonna guess a V9X 3.0 v6 diesel with full standalone control... This properly brightened my morning coffee, so thanks!

This is so cool.....and I'm liking what you've done so far.....I do love an old commercial truck of any kind.
22 years ago when I was a young mechanic, I use to regularly service/repair two Mk1 Renault Master long wheel base ex-ambulances that were both being used by local rock and folk bands to haul their gear around. Those van's were huge! I remember taking them out for test drives. Everytime I'd end up riding up over the kerb and onto the pavement at junctions because of forgetting how long the wheel base was. I also remember them being really slow....although not as slow as my n/a 2.4 LT35 is.....was.....I think??? 🤔🤔
Now....I've had a read through and given your track record, I was suprised not to see OM606 mentioned??? 🧐 😎 ( maybe it was....but I missed it? ) One of those should solve the get up and go issue!

I don't know a great deal about things, but that's a Sofim engine like you say as used in the Iveco Daily, which means the turbo versions should be fairly easy to come by and also turn up a touch. Whether you can +T an NA engine or not I really don't know... Bookmarked for the ride and very much looking forward to the addition of rear bodywork, I'm pretty sure I can picture what you have in mind
