I sold a previous owner of this the slot mags. Easy to sort out the 'slightly awkward' stance. These have adjustable torsion bars all round so can be lowered easily. There's a thriving Club for SIMCAs and the later french Talbots. I edit the magazine for the club and act as competition/modifications advisor. These cars are rare in the UK but spares are available within the club.
As a kid the films on TV at the time always had these in them - very popular in europe, and I have always loved the design, especially the estate, and I can see where the matro rancho got its looks from
The SIMCA 1100 Vans never really changed but went through three names. Originally SIMCA, mid '70s they were badged DODGE under Chrysler ownership. Late '70s when Chrysler sold (virtually gave) their European operation to Peugeot, They received the Talbot badge. My pickup is an '84, a few months before end of production so has the Talbot badge. The hatchbacks and estates in the 1100 range were replaced by the Talbot Horizon by the early '80s.
