Fiat Italia 90 special edition. Those wheel trims were awsome, but they should have replaced the car horn with a referees whistle as well. My mate drove into the back of someone in Alton Towers car park gawping at on of these in the queue next to us.

Mars bar Maxi anyone? Surely they should have made a Maxi Maxi. Can you remember those chocolate wafers? I can’t find a image of them, the only ones I can find are Kinder ones, but that’s not what I remember

The famous and tasteful (in my view at least) Volvo Ocean Race Editions: (some examples, they made more models even the Volvo FH truck was marketed as Ocean Race Edition) Thom

Not retro in the least, but too funny not to share here. The Fiat Kung Fu Panda. No idea if it ever went into production...

The VW-Trek one was due to VW sponsoring the Trek mountain bike team. Same for the SAAB-Gary Fisher link up.
Volvo were the first of the car manufacturers to sponsor a mountain bike team, Cannondale. I've seen plenty of Cannondale bikes from that time sold with Volvo decals. I assume that Volvo did a car with Cannondale branding but have never come across one. Anyone know of one?

Mk2 Astra named for the G-Mex exhibition centre in Manchester. As a spotty teenager, I dragged my mates to this. Sitting in a Sierra Cosworth and a Brooklands Capri made more of an impression.

Haha, I forgot about the G mex I remember going to a show or two there. I cant remember if I had a go of a Sinclair c5 at Gmex or at the NEC

another entry in the category of "charging 600 quid extra for an astra merit via some gte wheel trims, a cigar lighter and marketing flimflam" is the astra capital. in the 1980s nothing said "metropolitan" more than a pure white paint scheme (yes polo coupe boulevard, we mean you) plus they were only sold in select london dealerships, hence the name...

Way back when I was but a lad........73 to be precise VW bought out this low spec Beetle called the jeans edition. 1200cc which meant it took all its might to get up the smallest incline! Suppose it was on trend back then with all the Lee ,501 and the like denim gear.
