Exciting title, less exciting content... My 57 Fairlane came rolling on 2 original wheels with possibly original tyres ( ) and 2 odd steel wheels with metric tyres. I need to get rid of these, they're cluttering up my garden and my wife is pi**ed off. I'm loathe to scrap them, so would like to ID them. They're 5x4.5 or 5x114.3, presumably from something French or european (local source and metric) Anyone got any ideas? Cheers

That's a tricky one. Assuming they are '60s / '60s, most French cars of that era were three stud (Citroen & Peugeot). Panhard used their own system with the wheel centre being the brake drum & Facel Vegas mostly seem to have splined knock-off wheels - some have hubcaps but couldn't find any pics of the bare wheel. The only mainstream one I can find that is five stud is a Renault Fregate, but these don't match the pics I could find. Given that R380 are very close to 15", I'm wondering if the wheels may be imperial, but have just had the metric tyres squeezed on? However, if the wheels are indeed metric, I wonder given the stud pattern, if they could be from a French Ford, such as a Comete or Vedette?

Or maybe from a French commercial vehicle...

Hi, I think the 17 is the wheel/bead diameter and the 380 is the tread width (in Inches?).

Think you will find the are a 50's /60's American Ford wheels. If you look at the centre around the stud holes of the these Ford F1 40's/50's truck wheels they look very similar to yours.

Bit of an update. They're not off a vedette, I offered them to the simca owners club through scmick and a local vedette owner said they're not the same style as any of his.
I don't think they're Ford truck as the pcd is different
The 380 is virtually equivalent to 15", so much so that a 185r15 is offered as a replacement.
They're a bit more useful to me now I know they're 15", I may well keep them... Or sell them. I do have 10 wheels for one car 🤔
