Yup, thought so. It's too short on the wheel end. Don't quite know how I managed that.
I'll splice a section in to fix it.
Edit: Went out and looked at how I had managed to screw that up: I managed to not use the same datum. Well, ain't that smart of me. Oops.
I can insert a slice of metal and bring it to where it needs to be. Just sucks as that's extra welds I didn't want to do.

Cut the panel off, and hammered it to a better profile. Bottom corner was too sharp and the arch return was too straight. Added an infill section on the arch end and brought the back end up a touch. Now, per measurements that's correct. Ignoring the hole which I'll fill in, that looks alright in profile and at quarters. Phil

Nah, not adding extra power to this engine.
The answer there is add capacity.

Welded up. Managed to create a springy warp, nothing that cannot be fixed with a bit of bodywork. Phil

Space ship! Unfortunately someone (bodyshop guy) decided not to pull the lower front trim off, instead smash it with a DA sander fitted with 12½ grit paper then paint over it. I pulled the corner piece off, cleaned the paint off and then carefully smoothed it down with a diamond file, varying grades of wet-n-dry and metal polish. Unfortunately the anodized finish is long gone, so I'll have to work out how to protect the bare aluminum. Phil

If you use a mopping wheel then the polishing wax will keep the ally good. If not then a good coat of car wax regularly will keep it shiny.

I've decided to not let it defeat me.
Pulled the thing apart, found my can of Chem Dip and the first parts of the carb are currently stewing.

I had cleaned it out but in the interim a couple flies made nests in the vent tubes.

Started getting things adjusted. Carburetor has two sets of levels, two sets of everything apart from idle circuit stuff. Shut it down because it was not quite right and was getting a bit hot. Progress is progress. Phil

Had taken a few steps back from the car, think that was a good idea. I was beginning to burn myself out and make poor judgements. Five minutes tonight and I popped the worst of the kink out of the lower quarter, size 8 and a long prybar. It's even vaguely approaching the correct profile now. Phil

Forgot how much panel beating I'd done. Same-angle comparison from when I had just removed the filler to now.
