Rain, again. I got as far as cleaning this up before it started to rain, so it got a coat of paint. Only need to patch the part where the seat bolts in. That's nice.

I'm sitting here having a dilemma. I'm worried I'm being a perfectionist and making work for myself unnecessarily.
The front floor pans have been oversize cut from another car, the original of this car have been cut out roughly and these plopped in the hole like a metal bed pan.
My question, do I undo their work, repair the pans, then put them back in properly, or do I ignore the slightly gash repair and just patch the pans in situ?
The only advantage is these are genuine Chrysler pressings and are accurate. They are, however, kinda rusty because the car they came from was a parts vehicle.

Yep, don’t make it worse and make progress! Lots of perfect builds on here but also space for the hey I want to be driving this thing this year not selling it unfinished in 5. James

If it's structurally sound and not trapping loads of rust I would tidy it up as best as can be done, seam seal the edges and paint it.

Cut it out do it right; or you’ll never sleep properly again. 😉

My worst worry about dying is my wife selling my stuff for what I told her it cost...

I'll clean the pans up and see how viable they are.
One nice thing is they are easy to go back and redo.
However, the passenger side appears to be holding on to rust, so it might be one for two.
Rain forecast today so that may not happen.

Had a close look up front. Yup, that's bathroom sealant. Bodes well, don't it? Made a start on cleaning this lot up. Surprisingly, despite the fact it looked like trash before, they'd painted over dirt (why?!) And there's only a few nasty holes and thin bits on this side. Found where the scuttle is leaking on this side too, so that can be patched up also. Less bad than I thought it would be. Nice.

Small wins, funny how they can fuel us up to keep going at the bigger issues.
Progress is constant.

Looking at it, the passenger side pan needs to come out, it was not put in quite as well as it should have been.
It's also very rusty.
Not today though, gotta go to the city and collect the wife's daily from the dealership.

After mowing the yard I set about working on the car. Found a few more holes which turned into two big patches. Not as much progress as I would've liked but progress is progress. Need to get some more paint. Phil

Taking a break from it today; I've turned the color of the paint from the sunshine.

Oops, overdid it myself a bit earlier today but not so near the sun here ! James Yeah, 32°C in the shade today, very dry for here at 56% rH but directly in the sun? Brutal. UV index today is "extreme". Vacuumed the grinding dust out and stood staring at this side for a few minutes. I think this will be more replace, less patch.

Someone helpfully sent this; it shows each side is a mirror of the other, so fairly easy to make repairs if one side is still good. The section I'm missing is by the bolt hole on the right. It's all crunchy and has lost all semblance of the original shape. Didn't help either that the floor pan was welded on in the squint. So, let's take the other side, flip the page over, trace and presto we have a template. Lost my angle finder so broke out the ruler and made measurements to get the angles to bend. I'll make a new piece.
