So happy to see progress on the Fury! Engine wise I think the 360 magnum has got to be one of the easiest to pick up and throw in right? Yeah, it's a common engine and shares a lot of the LA series ancillaries. Yours, as a B block is still common but found more uses in trucks and industrial applications.

I dug the trim out of the trunk. Pliers and hammers shall feature in my future, I suspect.

That's about as good as I can get it. Hopefully it'll clip up securely when it's time. That was a pain to polish but it came up ok.

I noticed something today. Parcel shelf has a big old scuff and dent in. I guess it was fortuitous that I had removed the rear windscreen because otherwise whatever hit the back there will have broken the glass. That made me smile.

Nice to see a positive attitude there Phil If it doesn't rain... I might rearrange the workshop and wheel out the welder and see if a) I can trip the 110V outlet with it (dual 110/220V unit, one of the reasons I bought it) and b) see if it even still works. If it does I'll get some regular wire (gasless reel in it) and a bottle of gas and start with that. Got a couple pinholes that need a blob of weld in to fix. The car is 0.9mm steel, the wire I have is flux core 0.8 so a tad large for this. Was wondering why I kept blowing holes in it. Phil

I believe fluxcore burns a bit hotter too.
Which is nice if you need to get good penetration with a small machine on thicker material, but it will work against you with sheetmetal.
I'd look into a Argon/CO2 mix, if you can convert your machine ( or swap ).
And for sheetmetal, I use the thinnest wire I can get ( 0.023" / 0.6mm)

It'll do gas MIG, I just did not get to the point of needing to put metal back in before the storm tore everything up. Phil

More good news. Found the missing reversing lens. Need to glue it together and make a bit of a repair. But that's $65 saved

Yet more good news! I found my turn signal stalk. Had a little time and buffed it up. It's wonderfully tactile. Removed the broken pieces of lens from the lamp assembly. I like super glue. It works really well on this plastic. Also turns out me blowing holes in the metal was more down to poor technique and needing to trim the voltage and inductance settings on the welding machine. Went watch a few videos with gasless technique which helped when applied. (Imagine that, do it right and it works better...)

Yet more good news! I found my turn signal stalk. Had a little time and buffed it up. It's wonderfully tactile. This is one of the biggest reasons I do a lot of stuff. It over runs my senses. Look and seeing. Feel, touching Smell. Ask nickwheeler about the parts he makes up, every time something lands, I smell the machine oils, or stress from working them) Taste …… yup, you try the dusty rusty blowback from cleaning up something. These things certainly add a whole load of great mileage to our mental health. Nice job on the lense too.

Very much so. I still have the smell of the SiC and rust up my nose this morning. I went eyeball and yes, the rest of the turn signal arm is still inside the column. I need to get the steering wheel off (need a new steering wheel really, it's cracked and missing the horn push) so. The column shroud can come off. Also made the executive decision to tear out all the wiring. Why? That's why. All up under the dash is like this. Terrible. I'm also missing the under-hood harness and all Mopar board suggestions say unless you're going concours to tear out the firewall multi-plug and bin it before it catches fire. Phil

Good decision 🙂 Your not losing much by bining that lot, sorting that out would be more trouble than its worth.

Yeah it's been so hacked about with- that wiring all twisted together with flaky electrical tape is actually the headlight switch connector. Mildly amused, the parking brake release (pictured here, missing the handle) has a blinking red light inside whenever the pedal is depressed. Even more amusing is the parking brake actually works.

Found the handle. Cleaned it. All the chrome over pot metal is bad (not surprising, really, given the car was in a field). Found the headlight switch too. Starting on the gauges. The spare set happened to end up submerged in a plastic tote full of rainwater. I am working on making a good set from the two. The gauges themselves still work, which is nice. The needles need painting. The surrounds, where beige, were chrome. I'm going to get some chrome paint and see if I can get it looking reasonable. Phil

Reassembled the gauges. Needles got new orange paint. Surround got wire wheeled down and given a fresh coat of matte black. Phil

Test surround. On goes the "chrome", shiny silver paint. I think the surround will be the gray I bought for the clock (pale gray) and the center section flat black as it was.
