I've been the proud owner of this beauty for almost three years. For 2021 I have switched out the windscreen for a pair of Brooklands screens – go aero! I've not had the chance to do many miles with the Brooklands screens (yet) – but you can catch-up on some of my previous drives out here: www.youtube.com/channel/UCLyMVPqGXnNasgXYVeZYhkQ/

Thank you.
I'm liking the aeros. How is it to live with?

Thank you. I'm liking the aeros. How is it to live with? Blowy! But not as much as having a full screen and no doors. The Seven has lowered floors too, so that helps me duck down out of the breeze. In the sleet I was glad to have my open face helmet and goggles on, but in full summer it will be sunglasses and baseball cap. Bring on the heatwave! Here's the hail / sleet experience (last weekend): fb.watch/4SE1xbCN74/

Fab looking Seven – what spec was it?

Fab looking Seven – what spec was it? It was the “Slow” Vauxhall 1600cc 8v but very reliable! Only issue was the Morris Ital diff that exploded in my work car park not long after I bought it! I replaced this with a Quaife unit which was a life saver. The car was impeccable and really should have been a keeper. 😖

Always liked the look of these things. In recent years I've started to wonder how something similarly styled with a big in-line six in it would go.

There used to be a company making e30/e36 based seven-ready cars, not sure if they're still about...

Possibly terrible - compared to a seven with a lighter engine in anyway. Big part of the attraction of these is the light weight, low inertia (so the bike engines ones are even better) with the ability to accelerate rapidly, brake late and corner well - with an even bigger ability to change direction quickly. Stick something big and heavy up front and while it may still accelerate well, and sound nice, cruise nicely, it misses a lot of the reason to exist. I have vehicles at either end of the spectrum - a K-series engined, 6 spd Caterham - which goes, brakes, corners, handles rather well . . . and a 2016 Dodge Challenger V8 . . . which doesn't But it sounds nice and its the most relaxing car I've ever had to cover distance. Now something like a Marlin with a 6 cylinder in would be rather nice.

I had to pick up a mate's k-series Caterham from service due to him having an injury and it was still a revelation! However, the VX was easier to get in and out of (at least with the roof on)

Will you get another one?
