Started to build this eighteen months ago to use a the Bridlington sand drag racing and maybe RWYB events. After the beach racing was cancelled I moved onto a couple of other projects before getting back on it at the end of last year. I built this mostly from my spares stash. I started with a Model A roadster body and a 1949 Chevy chassis I had.
I was going for the modified roadster look from the drag class in the 1950’s, so basically engine in the passenger compartment and driver in the engine bay.
The basics were to lengthen the chassis by a foot to make sure everything fits, widen the body by 2 inches to Chanel it over the chassis and mould new body panels for the front.
It’s running a supercharged Rover V8 with autobox connected to a jag IRS with a u/j. Front suspension is Mustang 2, steering uses a duplex chain drive to offset the steering. Although the wheelbase is stretched it still is only a couple of inches longer than a Model A pickup.
