I'm looking for a 4 seater convertible for max of £3k the obvious choice for me would be the CLK but before I start looking with intent is there anything I'm missing? Criteria is simply 4 seats, ultimate waftability, auto (not a deal breaker) and £3k max.

Volvo C70, plenty around at that price. Ragtop or folding roof dependant on generation.

I'd be looking for an E36 or E46, 328i or 330i. E36 might be a bit of a push now at 4k. This 330 is £3.5kIf you like to live dangerously 6 Series cabs list on Autotrader from £5k wish so one might pop up in your budget.

The big issue I have with the Audi is the god awful CVT gearbox.

The Bimmers are great cars but not really 'wafty' in my book.

Alas it was that nice it's gone. Shame. I'm on there every day so if anything similar pops up I'll shout you.

I often find myself looking at these... A Chrysler Sebring, they can be bought for far less than your budget.

Another shout - Lexus SC. Might splope into the budget and there can't be much waftier than those. A couple of years ago maybe, the prices of these have gone crazy in recent times, I've always looked at these over the years but always bought something else in the end. Maybe I've missed the boat.

Pug 306. Great looking cars.
I had an E36 328i. As much as I love an E36, I found it very 'Meh'. The A4 seems like a good option and it will be a proper auto rather than the CVT if you find a Quattro.

Anyone had a MK1 Megane convertible? I've seen a low miles 2 owner car, it's the 2.0 and looks great.
Not an auto but I could live with that if they are generally okay. I'm not after high performance thrills just a comfy top down cruiser.
