A teacher at my school in Bexleyheath owned a tundra green mgbgt V8 Reg SCH 1L sad I remember the Reg but it was a rare car even in the early 80s We’ve discussed that car here before it still survives apparently Also I remember the head turning up in a brand new blue cortina crusader which must of been 1982/3 I guess it was a runout model before the Sierra replaced the cortina range Nothing really stands out from my school, other than one of the teachers a lot of the boys fancied used to drive a purple Audi convertable, maybe an 80? Not sure.

There is only one possible answer to that. Maybe. More like that the teachers were so stressed from teaching kids all day long that they were smoking 40 JPS a day! Most of them did at my school in the 70’s & they would crash a few out at break time too 🤣 they were the best times

A bit of funny tale to all this talk of school teachers My PE teacher from school lives in the same crescent at us And regularly stops for a chat on a Saturday morning whilst I’m cleaning or working on whatever car I’m doing The man still looks fit as a fiddle he must be at least 70 As I’m 52 now and he was quite young when he became a our teacher.....sorry this has gone right off thread 😂

My dad's old PE master was still teaching at the same high school when I was in the sixth form. Pretty sure he's still alive too. Must be in his 90s. Back on track, I've been getting the odd smile and wave from other Falcon drivers lately when out and about. Feels pretty good.

We had a few teachers with cooler cars (this is 94-99)
PE teacher, e34 520i in white Science teacher, mk1 Golf Clipper in red Form tutor, Alfa GTV v6 (80's one, he said he liked the older ones as you could get them sideways)
That's it though

Teachers cars, this would have been 87-92 for me...
Ford Capri mk3, 2.8i, black Triumph Stag, white. He sold it and bought a Mitsubishi Starion. Citroen 2CV, either white/red like Hubnut's Elly, or cream/red.
After that the art teacher for my A levels had a Citroen Visa Romahome camper.

I like how this thread has turned into teacher's cars! The only teacher's car of note I remember was one of my primary school teachers driving a black 300zx (a pointy one from the 80s). It always bugged me as a young car spotter that I didn't know what it was as I didn't recognise the badge and had never seen one before. But the reason everyone in school knew the car was because this teacher was a bit of a goth and she always drove it around with a fake skeleton in the passenger seat. Freaked us all out no end.

I haven't got any teacher car stories but I would like to know if the owner of the brown Triumph 1500 that gave me a wave while out in the Maestro is on here, mostly so I can tell them what a joy it is to see their chunk of BL now and then when I'm occasionally out and about.

I can also remember the teacher's cars that we laughed at (94-99). Two of them had maestros and my head of year a white 205. The boys all fancied the art teacher as she was under 30 and drove a sky blue beetle.

You didn't go to a school in Essex from 76 to 81, did you? Could be the same Drama teacher that used to make my underpants twitch. Anyway, my old English teacher drove one of these.. He was into motor racing in a big way, followed Ferrari, went to the Grand Prixs etc. The rest of them drove boggo standard stuff like MK1 Escorts and Hillman Avenger estates.

Thinking about the cars my teachers had, i seem to remember a red and white 2cv, a small thing that might have been a mini midas, a jeans beetle and a mini, but by far the coolest one was my french teacher who rolled in on a motorbike which as i remember was some sort of honda goldwing styled coolness.

I've just turned 50 and I still get the same buzz as I did when I was 8 when I see something old. I saw a Lotus Europa on a supermarket carpark today. It looked like it was from another planet circa 1975 or thereabouts. The roofline was about level with the bottom of the headlight of the 4x4 it was parked next to. It brought me great joy. I went to a lotus show at Donnington circuit back in 2002 maybe - parked next to a Lotus Europa Sounded like this one Chevy V8 and minimal silencing

My brain just reminded me of a very early memory of a trip in a teacher car. I can't recall why it was necessary to be driven there by the teacher, but it may have been before we had a family car and the 80s were a very different time. It was a blue Fiat Panda, that sort of faded blue, though whether it was a mk1 or a mk2 I couldn't tell you, it was infant school after all. It may even have been brand new, it wouldn't have been more than 2 or 3 years old at the time. Something like this anyway.

My primary school headmaster had a brand new Escort mk6 GTi, and used to boast to my mum who had a (very good) Sapphire Cosworth rep about how much better it was bla bla bla, my dad must have gotten wind of this as for a solid week I got picked up on his RS500, and for that short amount of time I was (or felt like) the coolest kid in school High school was a plethora of Vectras and 106s, 1 teacher had an R33 Skyline but he tried to hard to be Vin Diesel, and gained the nickname "the tosser"
