Hi Folks, i was hit by another driver whilst in my v reg diesel pickup 1999 model, (i had difficulty trying to find classic insurance before using this present company) just had my renewal price ready for early march sent through, was £263 now £700+!!!! when i looked at the details, they have listed a 3rd party collided with my vehicle (no fault of my own), yet my 9 years no claims has now been devalued to 2 years! Am i correct in thinking that if you have protected no claims, if YOU cause an accident, then you'r no claims is not affected? in my case, the accident was not my fault, yet it seems i am still being held responsible? i do not have a protected no claims, but surely if it is not your fault, why should i be punished?
Anyone clear this up for me before i make a call and start ripping into some individual who is likely to get both barrels! Also, does anyone on here actually have classic insurance with a commercial vehicle? The annoying thing is that i do not use the vehicle for any trade at all, i work in a hospital not on a building site.....
thanks in advance.

I’m in the same position .
3rd party pulled out on me with no warning .
It’s now almost been sorted , but my insurance company put it me as at fault until the case is closed , i then claim the money back i’ve over paid on this policy .
It seems wrong to me , but not a lot i can do about it .
Mines gone from £217 upto £678

I couldn’t understand why the case wasn’t closed . After finally talking to someone helpful it turns out that the 3rd party insurance accepted the blame & agreed the payout . My insurance company then paid me the agreed amount . Now waiting for the 3rd party insurance to pay my insurance company . Apparently , this can take some time . Even to the point thst my insurance company threatens the 3rd party insurance with court . It’s all very frustrating !!

The annoying thing is that i do not use the vehicle for any trade at all, i work in a hospital not on a building site..... thanks in advance. I can’t help with the NCB thing but my Acty counts as commercial and I’ve got a classic (limited mileage) policy through brentacre but they require a minimum level of modifications to qualify. Ironically it’s a quarter of the price (£220 a year) that normal insurance companies used to quote me when it was standard - presumably because as a standard truck it’s more likely to get used and abused and they were specialists in van insurance rather than classic insurance.

Cheers mr! I will give them a try, i called the company earlier today, finally got through after 20+ mins of being held in a queue whilst the automated curse word spilled out of the phone receiver...telling me about how many awards they have and blah blah...BLAH! it turns out that the company who paid for the damage's to my truck have not told the insurance company who i am with that the payment has been made, hence keeping an open case until it's resolved.... How ****ing stupid!Sound familiar zeberdee? so i was advised to call back tomorrow when everything should be settled.... the only good thing i done that made me feel good, was to go on trustpilot (whilst on hold) and leave a review for Autonet. at least it made me smile.... so there you go..... be warned people..... drive safely

Even to the point thst my insurance company threatens the 3rd party insurance with court . It’s all very frustrating !! I was in this position some 8 months after the accident happened. I had my payout, old car was written off and taken, had new car, none the wiser about the situation when I came to renew my policy. Didn't like the way my insurer at the time dealt with it so didn't even look at the renewal, just went elsewhere, got an acceptable quote and bought the policy. Two weeks later they call me politely accusing me of lying on the quote because the incident is on the database as my fault. Was raging! On calling my old insurer I'm told they've not been able to recover the payout from the third party (girl that hit me was in a courtesy car because she crunched hers so that could have added delays) so it goes down as at fault until closed. This despite it being an 'aced claim' because it was so cut and dry that she was at fault. A short rant later about the amount of time they've had to recover the payout, have been incompetent through out (I understand having to negotiate your payout but starting at £2k and settling at £4.5k is a bit much of a curse word take) and whether they want to get the ombudsman involved resulted in them adjusting the record to not at fault and I got my new policy. Unfortunately insurance is a joke through and through. Good luck and just keep hammering them.

I had the same issue 12 years ago.
I got hit from behind by a chap who had near bald Nankangs and was in a hurry to get somewhere.
Sister at the time who was sat in the back of the Ka, had strange arm sensations, or rather a lack of them, which took time to resolve, and to genuinely convince people that it was a problem for her (I seem to recall she could not sense heat or her arm being cut/@chinese Burns" for folks who remember those etc.).
The chap decided I was at fault. This was despite
-Him trying to jump a roundabout again, and him having his B Pillar T-boned. I know this as the paintshop who was doing my MGB Sebring Rep was also repairing his car. He was driving a Saxo VTS at that time! It seemed he was being rewarded for failure!
It took 3 years to resolve. For that time I had an 'at fault' claim against me and a loss of my excess.
Your situation however sounds like a misunderstanding from the insurance company's end.

well, there were further developments... all of which still made my blood boil! i have still been messed around and fed false information, the latest was to ask ME to call AXA insurance who were the big body regarding Autonet... so I...yes this is ME....had to make a call, i explained my frustrations and the situation of going from one to another and waiting for the call, but getting nowhere (in a very clear and calm manner) i was then told.... 'i can understand your frustrations, and i can see on out database that you have a live policy, but unfortunately, this is nothing to do with AXA, what i suggest...is you call them back and make a complaint, they have a duty to respond within 48hours' So! once again i called them back, and said i was going to the Ombudsman, and i was going to drag Autonet, Kindertons and Carpenters (don't get me started!)along the way, just because the company responsible for paying me out the damages for the truck (Carpenters do the physical injury side of things, they ****ed up as well) have not told Autonet that they have paid me (even though it states on my new overpriced policy!) i am the one who suffers? i explained clearly how angry i was and that i am due to renew my insurance on March 3rd, and obviously will NOT be using Autonet again, but want my NCB reinstated to 9+! if i do not hear anything by 2pm tomorrow.....I am going to really kick off, apparently, the management are meant to be looking into this...... (i'll let you know when i stop laughing)

I had an issue which began on Feb 11th 2020, pulled up at my work car park entry and a Luton van was blocking the way beyond the barrier. As I was entering the car park I seen the driver heading back to the cab so no big deal. No sooner than I had pulled up his reverse lights came on and then backed into me. Damage to the bonnet and grille etc. Swapped details and that was that. Called the business owner later and he wanted to pay for the repairs himself as his excess was £1k. So got 3 quotes of the region of £1200 to £1500, offered to settle for £1k cash and he countered with £500 tops as my car was a piece of s**t, so told him we would go insurance then. I settled with my insurance for £1300 ish cash and no record, but NCD suspended until settled, but I had CCTV evidence etc and was straightforward.Plus £360 for each of the kids seats to be replaced.
This tool until late Jan 2021 to be fully settled and down as non fault. Meanwhile my other policy was loaded bur to the claim outstanding and I had a real hassle getting them to refund me the difference on begin closed out. Its all squared away now and worked out in my favor as the bonnet was repaired for under £200 all in, but was a lot of grief for something so straightforward.
But the balance payed for the roof for my garage build so all good.

So much hassle to go through, and a great deal of the time, it ends up yourself doing the chasing, i am sure there are many horror stories out there, but in the end, it's all very unacceptable when you pay for a service you have to fight for.Glad things worked out for you.

Very true, i just don't understand why they pay you for the damages, but if you don't give them a kick in the rear, they will gladly let your claim continue gathering dust, and in the meantime, happy for you to pay over the odds and not even blink.... seems to very a huge injustice to those who drive carefully and build up their no claims, just to have some S***tic cause so much hassle by driving into you? But what you say makes sense... even though, no common sense seems to prevail from the companies that allow this.... my fight continues...... Go easy

Well, i kicked off, and rightly so! made a stinking complaint, told them how useless they were and contradicting in regards to their statements regarding protecting and supporting policyholders rights etc.... only been trying to get someone to sort this since Feb 23rd! finally happened today, points reinstated back to 9+ and they even gave me £25... that just about covers the phone calls! i did think about demanding more, but thought again, and decided to just leave it! Never again will i ever use Autonet insurance, and as for the curse word in the personal injuries dept wanting me to press on for up to 3 years to gain more injury money from Pukka insurance, i told them months ago to shove it as with this present unstable climate, and a name like Pukka...i wouldn't be surprised if they were not around in 3 years time..... guess what....................... now back with Adrian Flux, and i will be receiving a drop in payments now i have proof of my updated N.C.B drive safe folks...... it's not just idiots on the road..... some work for insurance companies behind a desk!
