1600 cvh in a mk2 fiesta...
Can come to it one day, and it'll fire first time and start everytime there after, and run and drive spot on
Other days... it'll just turn over and over, not had the car long and not currently using it but would like to track down the issue, most parts are new or recent looking, all wiring is visually ok, just fit a new ign module (it was physically damaged)
Anyone any ideas ?, or anything common on the cvh's that makes them a pig to start ?
Cheers

What Carb has it got? Is it auto choke? I forget what the CVHs had one them. The ford VV carbs are notoriously curse word. Auto chokes can play up too.

Weber tldm with autochoke, which appears to be working as it should
Has brand new mech fuel pump, to replace the badly fitted electric facet
Haven't gone to far into it, but must be missing something simple, hoping someone has had a similar issue
Cheers

Has it got the condenser box on the dizzy? They're renowned to be a weak spot.

Check the pcv circuit the valves used to stick open and they would never start, as a trial you can blank the manifold off and leave the camcover vent pipe open

probably fuel returning back to the tank, fit a none return valve in the fuel line just before the pump
can test this quite easy, pinch the flexy fuel line in the same place with a hose clamp tool, undo it just before starting the car next time and see if that sorts it, if it does, then buy a none return valve.

I just went through this with my Capri and it was the accelerator pump valve fitted wrong. Wasn’t firing any juice into the carb. Also I have an Escort mk3 ohv and that sometimes does this. Changed earths, battery and points (yours won’t have them I don tbink) it’s better but suffers from the cold weather badly .

Have you looked at the plugs when it won't start? Is there a spark? Are the plugs wet?
Try a squirt of start ya curse word down the throat of the carb next time. If it catches momentarily, you have no fuel.
