	I acquired this in late 2018 as I always fancied a Consul GT 3.0 Manual, but in 10 years of looking only replicas ever appeared for sale. Clearly very few survivors now. I preferred to buy an on the road car, but didn't mind doing some work myself, just welding is beyond me Anyway, this turned up as a project and since its the only one I've seen for sale in recent history I had to have it. The history behind it is that it was owned since 1978 by the same old guy from Birmingham area, for 30 years til 2008. At which time it was sold to a collector in the sussex area who has many old Fords and other classics. He rubbed down and primed one rear quarter and then sat at the back of his unit until he realized he would never get round to it, and thats when I bought it. Anyway, here's some pics of it when I first viewed it:

	First job was to fit a new ignition barrel as it wouldn't recognize the key! The next job was to rip out the Mk2 granada interior fitted by the old boy and replace with early Consul GT seats. These were located by the previous owner (see pics above for Mk2 interior) Here is a pic of the new drivers seat. It's in really good order but the passengers seat is a mess and needs a full rebuild. That's because this was acquired from a LHD car

	Next jobs was to get it running. I do have a video of that but not yet uploaded it, but just needed coil, condenser points and fresh fuel. Next up, brakes. Here's a few pics of me doing calipers, master cylinder, pipes etc. I did the flexis and rear brake cylinders too but I don't have pics of that:

	I was then able to take it for a first drive just round the block at which point I discovered speedo and indicator stalk were non functional so acquired new. Well 2nd hand stalk and speedo refurbed by speedy cables

	You realise you will feel the urge to crash through piles of cardboard boxes which have been left in an alley way/ on disused land etc for no apparent logical reason. Lovely car son, right where's me bottle of scotch and Bensons........

	wow , brings back many memories of cars bought and run by the Romford wacky racers back in the day , I was so jealous of the bloke who turned up in a Consul 3.0 manual..

	You have got a bit of a project there I see, but nothing too hard I guess. From the pictures it seems to in good nick with little rust. And boy do they rust :-( I thought all V6 models came with vented front disks, I see yours are solid. The brown interior could have been a nice place to sit, but not correct for a GT so it needed to go. Is it missing a lot of side trim og was the Consul GT delivered without the side trim? Looking forwards to updates!

Looking forwards to updates! I don't think the Consul came with side trims, no sign of holes in the doors either. Think they were just for the posher Granada models. Indeed there is some rust. I'll post another update in a bit of the rust rectifications!

Here's the before and after for the rear quarter That's ok for now, but longer term I will want a bodyshop to bare metal it and do a professional job
