1.6 hdi slow start/smoke
sorry, I know this is classed as a modern, but I just seek some advice away from the Pug forums for a differing viewpoint.
The Mrs Pug 308 1.6 HDi, when stone cold, left overnight or after a couple of days, its slow to turn over and just when you think its going to die, it starts, just recently its puffing a bit of smoke out after chugging itself over on the starter for a few moments, blueish/whitish, it clears after a few seconds - no problems at all any other time/engine warm, or under heavy load if given a bootful. But even when warm/hot it isnt the quickest to turn over.
No idea if its original battery, but we are going to buy one anyway, they arent dear.
It DOES need a service, I have all the various filters and oil, just with her working all week and having to work on it outside, there hasnt been a chance but this will get looked at when the battery is changed when we get a new one.
It had a brand new turbo just before we got it last June. Assume it had oil etc then, certainly the fuel filter looked new, not seen the air filter its a pig to get at just for a nosey.
I am not too fussed about the smoke, I think thats just the result of it turning over and not firing. - plausible?
Next cold start when I will be able to access it will be saturday morning, I might put a jumper battery on it and see if it turns over quicker, I think it will. This will be done before a new battery is obtained.
No EML or codes when scanned with a Delphi thing.
