You realise the work you are putting in makes this truck more and more part of your DNA every stitch you weld.
It is becoming the unlikely “keeper” in your collection.In reality, this was always intended to be a "keeper" for my son, not for me. That seems to be taking root, although I'm understanding that he doesn't (yet?) have the same fascination with the way things work that I do. That's ok, and if he grows into being a "car guy" at some point that's great - if not, at least he has some idea of the amount of work I was willing to put into this for him. And he is excited to get it back to "daily" status - if the weather cooperates he'll be able to take it to school next week.
We did find the paint color - we think so anyway.
It still feels a little wrong to put this much effort in then hit it with a spray bomb, but we can always come back and spray it properly (or have it done professionally) if he wants (and budget permits) at some later date.
