Phase 1 Volvo V70 Estate 1999 'V' Registration
2.4 Litre 5 Cylinder Petrol
5 Speed Manual
Mystic Silver with Full Black Heated Leather
Will come with 12 Months MOT Mechanically spot on - been all over the UK in it. No overheating. Pulls like a train and sounds great with the legendary 5 pot burble. Had this almost a year, and it has never once let me down. Starts first time with no struggling. Idles fine. No overheating - even on the hottest of days, the temperature sits in the middle. Uses no oil or coolant between services. Power steering reservoir has a small weep. No warning lights in the dash. Exhaust has a slight blow in the centre join and the tail pipe is missing on the back box. B5244S2 / 2435cc / 5 Cylinder / 140 BHP / 35+ MPG
The engine still has its power there, and it accelerates freely throughout the rev range. Not too bad on fuel either, will return over 35 MPG on a long run.
Cam Belt last changed at 159k miles.
Had an oil & filter service in my ownership, along with new wiper blades front and rear.
It has the manual gearbox which are fairly rare to find these days, as a lot of these were automatic. Pulls well in every gear.
It has been well looked after, and has over £8k in bills and receipts with it. 2 x Keys. Volvo Folder & User Manuals. The suspension has the supple V70 ride, which makes ease of all uneven road surfaces. No knocks or bangs.
Brakes are fine and stop the car well, with no noticeable shuddering or pulling to one side. One rear caliper seems to be getting a bit sticky.
Premium tyres all round.
The V70 is in presentable condition for the year, but has the usual marks, blemishes and stone chips as to be expected for the year and mileage. The bumpers have a few scuffs on the corners. There are some marks on the bonnet which road debris has caused. The alloys have a few spots of bubbling, especially the OSF one (spare alloy rim is included). NSR door has a scrape. Driver's side wing mirror glass has cracked. V70R tail gate fitted as the glass on original tailgate got damaged (some brown tape marks on the rear light clusters, which will come off). Overall it is still a good looking, boxy old Swede.
The interior is in good order and has worn the age very well. All solid and in one piece. No rips, tears or sagging. But, there is wear on the driver's seat bolster and the front centre arm rest. The leather still feels tight and strong. The seats are very comfortable and supportive, which is typical of these old Volvos.
Apart from he stereo, everything still works as it should. You can pick up units for cheap on eBay, but it never really bothered me. The windows, heaters, front and rear wipers, lights, horn etc. all operate correctly.
This is a reliable old workhorse which will do pretty much anything you ask of it. I have been up and down the country to pick up a few bits and pieces (when we were not in full lockdown), I have done several tip runs, helped some neighbours pick up bits of furniture. It's durable and dependable old car. You just get in it, turn the key and go where you need to.
These things are becoming more and more sought after, and going the same way the old 940s are. No-nonsense tanks which just go on forever. People who have them tend to keep them for many years and are reluctant to let them go.
I am selling due to buying an LPG X5, which arrives in a few weeks. This is now surplus to requirements.
Located in Shinfield, Berkshire, RG2 post code. Feel free to call me on 07984 395400 to discuss further.

Do you have any photos of the car?
I think you live round the corner from me, as I’m in 3MX. Normally see one of your cars parked in the car park opposite the CO-OP

I just figured out what 3MX stands for. These earlier cars are starting to appeal. A T5 manual would be most appealing.

If you still have this in a month, I may be interested. Look forward to pictures.
Is there any rust? Any knocking around the suspension?

No rust or rot, just a few surface scabs, but most panels are arches are free from tin worm. Suspension all feel tight and solid, with no noticeable knocks or bangs. Been busy with work over past few weeks - endeavour to get it cleaned and photos taken later this week, and then MOT'd by mid next week.

Intending to get this MOT'd either end of this week, or early next week. Just been flat out with work over the past couple of weeks.
For those interested, the registration is V299 DRA. You can check the MOT history on line. MOT expired a week ago. No horror stories in there, just usual wear and tear for the age of the car
Took it for a blast the other day to clear the cob webs, and that 5 pot still sings nicely!

Is this pre ME7 or has it got the throttle body?

Is this pre ME7 or has it got the throttle body? Hi, I am not sure to be honest. What's the best way I can check? It's the 140 BHP 5 Cylinder petrol model, so not sure if these ones came with the throttle body?
Would a photo of the engine bay help?

MOT is provisionally booked in for Wednesday 10th Feb, as long as nothing crops up with work.
If I get the chance, will clean her over the weekend and put some photos up.

Hi dude. Is it on a dizzy cap or individual coils? Dizzy will be the more reliable pre ME7.

MOT has passed. Expires February 2022. A year of slab-sided motoring.
A few advisories, no horror stories. Clean emissions pass.
Will be putting up on eBay later today, although that usually attracts a whole heap of morons!

What a great V70 . I have an identical car ( apart from 5 spoke wheels on mine )that I have kept for 7 years. So practical and versatile there is literally no other car I would trade it for ! I will be keeping mine until something really expensive fails. They really don't make cars of this quality now. Good luck and sympathy in advance for ebay...

They are built to survive a nuclear war! And to be fair, not much goes wrong on these which would be catastrophic to repair, so they do generally go on forever.
