I'm mid- restoration of a H-plate Golf GTI 8v.
I'm stripping the interior out ready for the usual welding - I want to remove the heater box to change the matrix (while the dash is out, rather than waiting until next winter when it will surely break and need doing anyway.
I've found all the fittings in the engine bay - but the two 10mm nuts are just spinning, which I suppose means the other end is buggered. Can I Dremel the ends off that I can get to, and then fit new bolts once the box is out, or will it then need a new box? I don't care about it being factory, as long as it WORKS. And will remain working.
