Been looking around for a pickup for a while now, and they seem to fall into two categories:
1) Affordable but pretty dull late 90s/early 2000s Ford Rangers / Mazda B2500s starting around 2k 2) Much more interesting but ludicrously expensive C10s / F150s etc. all floating around the 10k+ mark
Are there any retro pickups around the 5k mark that are interesting?

I have been looking at pick ups for a while now. The only thing that would be remotely interesting, a bit different and in decent condition for £5K would be something like a 90s American Ford F100/F150. For your money you could get the V8 and a choice of cab styles. Anything older and you are going to need to spend around £8.5K plus. Old pick ups have been badly affected by 'scene tax' of late.

Yeah, it seems anything older than the 90s will still command big money even if it's rotten with moon miles. I'd be happy with an F100/150 for 5k though...

Theres still a few p100s around, and going further back there's marina and minor pick ups, they should be pretty clost your price range, you can also still get a roadworthy land rover for that sort of money.

I always liked the Martini special Ford Ranger. Yes a dull truck but nevertheless cool graphics. I believe they were limited numbers of 500 ?? Probably none for sale but get a white truck and buy the graphics.

Cant be many of these left now? I can remember how fast the rear tub used to rust away! Shame really as there's nothing else quite like it.

S10 needs a few bits, could be a good base. I love love love S10’s Ford.... not sure if it is that special. Nissan, weirdly, my choice as it will continue to be a decent less common truck. Mazda..... good trucks, but naahhh. There are two more S10 trucks on EBay, one white 2.2 has a rubbish MOT history, the other is Red, and I think has a better history. Modified too, wheels etc. I suspect the red truck may be available for a sensible cash offer. Check MOT history for fails etc. Gives an idea. Red one Reg: N150CRJ White one you can see.

PS. Looks like the other 2.2 has been sold, or removed.
So just the red one available;e.
Not sure if it is a good buy really.

What sort of size pickup are you after? Minitruck or full sized American? I think a mini truck might be more practical and affordable... Although a silly big 6l V8 always appeals. I've never owned a Yank so that would be my preference - and there are some neat suggestions here, cheers!

My mate has a Skoda Fun, it's pretty cool but it is also pretty rusty.
You could possibly pick up a Subaru Brat in reasonable conditon for that amount, might take a bit of finding though.

Yeah most Funs have gone that way, not helped by the bonded body as I understand. S10 is definitely a good shout, there's one a bit closer I've seen on FB that I quite like the look of...

S10s are good little trucks but that sort of money for one is comical. It should be about 2k.
The Mazda seems the best buy out of those, slightly pricey but then it’s a unusual spec with the coloured interior.

Depends if you can stretch the budget a little and get your self something that you “really” want. If you are on IG check out C10Sales - there are a lot of expensive trucks but there are also the odd bargains. This is one that has caught my eye.... With the pound dollar strengthening $5k works out to be approx £3800 - add on £1500 for shipping and then another 10% for import duty and VAT (20%?). Offset the cost by putting 2 x LS in the bed ($1k each for the most complete ones you can find with harness and ecu) which will sell here easily for £1.5 - 2K. Quick bit of maths- Truck - $5k LS x 2 - $2k Total $7k 1.3 exchange rate approx £5.4K Shipping and handling £1.5k Total to get it here approx £7k Duty and VAT approx £9.5k Sale of 2x LS @£2k each - £4K £9.5k - £4K = £5.5k See. I can spend other people’s money as well as Grizz’s. Question is why aren’t you on the phone to the man already..... Your welcome and Merry Christmas.... P.

Sitting chuckling here at you PaulY My ear is still ringing from the slap Sally placed so enthusiastically to the side of my head earlier, thanks to you. But it makes a load of sense, taking your time, being patients. And paul you can rely on Paul Y to find you some decent stuff, he has a good eye.

Whilst I sit here, digesting my turkey, avoiding another game of Risk and contemplating the cheese or another mince pie I came across this.... So to answer your question, use g the same maths as above, yes you can get a retro pickup for £5k.... Merry Christmas P.

Currently driving a 1972 BMW 1602 as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!
