I'm looking at making some water pipes for my project. Its a duratec, and its the pipe that goes on the back of the head [when rwd] to come forward.
Is there any reason i cant make them out of mild steel? I think with the anti freeze itll be ok, and i could get them chrome plated.
Or i could use that scedule 10 stainless but i only have a mig with c02 gas, i think itll weld find but?!
thanks

No reason you cant, infact many cars used to have pipes just like that.

thought so. on my car ill need to use a bmw m44 coolant sensor that gives 2 signals, one to the ecu and one to the gauge , not sure if its the same as say the ford ranger one some people use. So making a new one would be ideal for me.
steel is easier to use than ally defo.
thanks!

Yep I've made steel coolant pipes, also copper if it's the correct bore.

i had thought about buying a copper plate and then soldering on to it with plumbing fittings. there is some nice rods you can get on ebay that look the part.

Another vote for yes, made up steel pipes for some sections years ago and they're still in good order, also used that flexible copper pipe for the heater pipes that can't be seen, which are still good too.

right so i started to do my duratec ones, used 3mm plate, and 50x25 box, from the pic, ill go up at 45 deg, and then cap the end off, the cut a 33mm hole in the end pointing forward to take the water pipe. is 50x25 enough flow? thanks

This is the sort of thing you need as a guide for your water pipes.
