Hi all, I’ve got a VW T4 with a rusty arch - nothing major but has rust/hole along the front edge, a bit of surface rust in the middle and a hole at the rear (as per bits highlighted in the picture).
I bought a new arch and sill and my original plan was to just cut out and replace the rusty bits but I’m now thinking just to drill out all the spot welds and replace the whole section.
What’s people’s thoughts? I’ve always thought it was best to keep repairs as small as possible as disturbing factory joints and welds can increase chances of rust in the future, but on the other hand would replacing the whole lot be a better option?
I’d Electrox the panels and use weld through zinc primer, and cavity wax after.
