That's amazing! I've been looking to spot a 3-door Stanza ever since they were new, never seen one apart from in the brochure! Given that 3 doors seem very rare, maybe it’s that actual car....... not that it could ever be proved. Is it early enough to be a press car? Nick

Mine was registered in October 1982, and I can't find out for sure whether they were launched in the UK in 1981 or 1982, but there were X plate cars for sure.

Had 20 minutes tinkering on it with my mate today. Seems like the reason it's starting but cutting out is it's overfuelling. Anyway, ran out of time today, so a job to finish on another day...

I believe it was 1984 when the Datsun name was dropped in the UK, I seem to remember early Micras had a Datsun by Nissan badge. I’m sure Geordie will have the correct info.

I'm ignorant of these. How come it's badged a datsun but has a nissan rocker cover? Was this the year they rebranded themselves? Datsun was the brand name of the parent company Nissan, so a slow rebranding happened in around 1982/1983 gradually dropping the brand name Datsun, going from being badged Datsun Stanza, to 'Datsun by Nissan', to just 'Nissan'.

The brochure appears to be dated 1982, guessing from the publication number. Although I don't know if that's January 1982 or 1st print of 1982. Interestingly there's another pic of a blue 3 door, on steel wheels... Same car before the alloys? Guess we'll never know...

Takes me back to the early 80's when I was working at a Datsun/Nissan/Datsun/Nissan dealership
The Stanza was a funny one to sell - harder to shift than a 300ZX and they were normally bolted to the floor in the showroom
The Sunny was almost as big and available in 4 and 5 door config and the Bluebird wasn't much bigger and also available in 4 and 5 door config and sold well to the mini cabbers (unless ZX turbo)
It really didn't fit very well in the range
I do remember that I couldn't get enough Micra's they sold as fast as I could get stock

Absolutely love these Stanzas - the first dealer examples arrived in showrooms mid April 1982. I went with my father for a test drive when they first appeared - Ebony and Ivory had just got to the top of the charts that I can remember. Our Neighbour promptly took delivery of a silver X plated 4door. There was something progressive with the Stanza at the time that seemed a little at odds with the rest of the Datsun/Nissan range. Whilst it's styling doesn't particularly jump out at you, each variant I find has very clean and appealing lines.

That's a great bit of info regarding April '82 being the first month that examples were available. The earliest one I have is ULJ 543X, the silver 4 door with the red interior, which was registered in February '82, so that was a really early one and with that red interior it could well have been a dealer/showroom demonstrator.

Today was a good day. Six months after getting hold of the car, I have eventually received a V5 logbook from DVLA. God knows why it took so long. Anyway, nice to have it now... Seeing how the car was described on the logbook meant I could check 'How Many Left' to get an idea of numbers left. It seems it's not the only one left, as there are two currently licensed and a few sorn (to Q3 2020 anyway), but that's not a bad thing. No real update on this one. It's kind of at the back of the queue at the minute, and will have to wait it's turn.
