You'd think wouldn't you.....£48 for some rubber bits that don't fit. they are too wide to fit and don't have the single bolt hole to the silencer.

And being modern pattern rubber parts they will probably fail inside a year too... It would be very tempting to just fit some modern high temperature rubbers such as the one below which give much better isolation but I guess that is seen a non original and a major no no in the E type world. .

Ideally , i'd prefer to fit some modern hangers but i don't want to chop out or drill extra mounting points on the body. the strap i'm using is 8-9mm thick so quite stout

The more I see bits of the underside of this car the more I am amazed by the condition - looks fantastic Oh and so does the exhaust

Some more work fitting the new exhaust. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but that looks like a brilliantly re-purposed gate latch?

This is going to be something else when this is finished. Really enjoying the thorough refresh and upgrades (adding lightness!).

Refresh and where possible subtly improve. All the body/trim patina will be kept. Love e- types but too many are over restored...no character.

Gopping. The series 2 back end revision is a right lash up. The closer you look, the more you see what a bodge up it was to get the car through US legislation.

They look very much like MGB reverse lights... but odd to see them hanging in free air

Rear lights look the same basic unit as my lotus elan +2 (that has integrated reverse lights though), even Lotus managed to get a surface the right shape to mount them on though!

It's £40-50 per lens to convert them to UK spec with orange indicators. But seeing as I don't like them, I'll be doing something else 😉

This is the Texan "mot/road tax" sticker in the windscreen. Issued 1988 running out June 1989. Mileage was 58k. Current mileage is shown as 59309. I believe the Jag left Texas in 2007 going to Idaho (iirc). Was registered but never driven. Then left Idaho after storage in 2018 to the UK. Purchased by Toby Smith's business partner in 2018 as one of 8 cars in their last batch of imports. (Smith died in 2017 and was bigly into his etypes, going into business with a-n-other to ship American etypes over to the uk. Toby Smith was the keyboard player/song writer in jamiroquai). Of those 8, 5 were sold off early 2020 and the last 3 including this one autumn 2020. Car had been stored in a warehouse in Cambridge since 2018. If you recall prince Harry's wedding to Megan markle, they drove off in an electric etype roadster (factory conversion). That was Toby Smith's (well technically his wife's as he was dead). Lovely coincidence that the sticker shows'69' and the car was built in '69'. I'll leave the innuendos to you lot.

Main exhaust hangers now in place. Then a final retightening of all the clamps. Everything is still loose so I can ensure the tailpipes are as square as possible as the system gets clamped up.
