After such a crappy motoring year I really needed a fossil fuel pick me upper so did a deal and took ownership of this "modern classic" as Classicline put it! As one would expect, its a totally different animal to the 67 F100 and after 500 yards of driving off with the keys, I had a huge grin on my wrinkly face! For a start, the 5.7 had a straight through pipe which rattled my old nashers on the hour long drive home but still arrived home with a mega smile on my mug. It's largely stock apart from the wheels and arch trims and will stay like that for a few months because of my pending move to the land of haggis & kilts. I will however begin getting the interior to a bit more like I want it for now. Anyhoo, a few photo's for now of the outside!

Still plenty of these roaming around here, but it's rare to see the pov-spec van front grille on them (good thing too, the blazer lights are terrible).
Parts are cheap and plentiful, Rock Auto is your friend here.
Does the exhaust have the "really loud wet fart" chatter?

I really like it as just about all the others I have seen have the blazer type front end! The headlights on mine look remarkably like the Jeep XJ's. It is indeed the poverty spec WT although it strangely has lecky windows |

That is a nice looking truck. Dare I ask which part of our wind swept, rain soaked, dark isle you are going to sup irn bru an deep fried Mars bars in Irn Bru I can enjoy but you can keep yer deep fried Mars bars . I will be a couple of miles from Gatehouse of Fleet Dumfries & Galloway. After living abroad on the coast for most of my life , I know how the salty air destroys vehicles and thats another reason why the ol 67 went. Could not accept that mother nature would destroy an ex Cal truck in just a few years. |

Here's the little mill.Quite an eager little thing even on an old school mixer type LPG system (even starts on LPG!) One thing I cannot ever get my head around is unprotected wiring  I cannot fathom why someone cant take an extra bit of time to protect it properly but heyho, its on my next to do list.

Not really much worth taking photo's but in between work/darkness/rain etc a few jobs have been ticked off the "to do" list. It needed a pair off rear tyres but I'm one of those wierdo's who cannot stand mixed rubber so visited my local tyre chaps who fitted a set of these:
They are supposed to be an all year tyre with winter spec but besides that, they look cool
Also fixed the perished LPG rubber lines and replaced the anti roll bar drop links and a bunch of mini jobs so all in all something got done!
The next challenge is a job I'm dreading and that's leaking exhaust manifold gaskets. The possibility of shearing off studs is keeping me awake at night but come hell or high water, it's got to be done over Christmas. I tried this method of finding the leaks and it worked a treat!

That's a cool bit of kit!
Get soaking those manifold nuts with WD40 immediately, fingers crossed they come out nicely for you! Looks like it has some aftermarket headers though, so at least they have been off at some point in the vehicles life haha
Like the look of the new chunky rubber, should suit it well.

Not knowing nowt about this truck as I got shag all paperwork with it, I leaned on my brother in Florida to do me a carfax report to see what it pulled up. Because the truck is 28 years old, I don't suppose it mattered much but curiosity got the better of me! Good news is that it was never in a prang or nicked over there. One, not done recall for a leaky tranny was noted over its 4 years in its motherland before the poor thing was put up for auction and exported to Belgium which surprised me! Anyway, it filled in a few gaps of its history although I would have loved to know who owned it there!

You'll find a lot of new car sales around that time in southern Florida. That hurricane trashed a lot of vehicles by flooding; yours is part of the wave of new cars that followed through in the months afterwards.
