Continuing with my clearout, I've had this 330Ci for a few years now and with so many other things on the go and space at a premium, I could do with moving it on.
I was looking at breaking it as the engine in it runs as sweet as a nut. It's silky smooth, even by the normally high 6cyl BMW standards, so that would make most of the money on its own.
Having looked at it, however, it would be a shame to break as it's a potentially great car and a good project for someone with fewer distractions than I have at present!
With that in mind, I'm offering for sale as it is for a week before breaking.
The only thing this car has that's really wrong with it is that reverse gear doesn't work (auto).
It is common for the reverse drum to fail on these BMW auto boxes, and I've sourced a new, uprated reverse drum from the US. This is available by separate negotiation if required, but I guess a lot of people looking for an E46 project may decide to convert to a manual 'box anyway or take the easier route of a used auto unit. I sourced the part to rebuild due to the fact that the gearbox in the car is incredibly smooth. The smoothest auto box from the E46/E39 sort of era of BMWs I've experienced since they were nearly new, so didn't want to swap it out for a dog.
The engine is a peach. Starts on the button and runs super smooth. The only issue is the cam cover gasket needs replacing, which is nothing really and very common on petrol BMWs of this era as anoyone who has worked on them will know.
The interior is quite tidy. Only the one side panel on the drivers seat has worn/split, which is typically a £60 job from a reputable trimmer.
It is a remarkably rust free example of an E46 and only has one small, easily repaired patch just below the NS door. There is a little light damage on the NSR wheelarch, but otherwise a nice, straight car.
It is a good spec with electric opening rear pop-out windows.
Anyway, some photos
It's a ve
It's a very minor project or basis to do something different.
The price of £850 is strict as I know I will comfortably get more than that from breaking it, but I'd rather it be saved and provide someone with a cheap, worthwhile project. If it's not gone in a week, that will be its fate though (I will hold it for a little longer with a small deposit)
As said, I do have an uprated reverse drum available separately, which on only available from the US.
I also have a set of genuine MV1 alloys, professionally refurbished with brand new tyres. That's what would have been fitted originally to this car. Again, available separately if so desired.
Based in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, but can help arrange delivery if required.
Cheers
Mike
