Oh yes, mine was ragged to within an inch of its life every time it went out. At 17 I hadn't quite worked out mechanical sympathy, poor thing! It took it though.
I put it in a hedge before I passed my test practicing in the snow. It took forever to hit and was really quite funny, even at the time.
Several months later a rear brake cylinder let go on a dual carriage way which was interesting. It must have been weeping for a while as the pedal went to the floor but the car didn't really slow down as the exit approached which was pretty sub-optimal given that I had only passed my test a few months before and had my girlfriend with me in the car for the first time. Some drastic downshifting was required which was the one occasion the rev happy engine was not a blessing. Amazingly my girlfriend didn't dump me and is still putting up with me now.
It got fixed and driven a bit more before going on eBay. It was won by another 17 year old learner who promptly rolled it with no tax or insurance before the V5 had even got to Swansea, which had to be explained to plod...
