a while ago I saw a link on here to a site giving good info about traffic offences
I cant find it
why? a couple of days ago I was ashamedly doing 35 in a 30, a PCSO [on his own] was pointing a portable speed camera, now I am not overly worried as its likely he was just measuring speeds to see if it was worth putting a speed indicator sign up [those digital things] as a couple of other roads just near here have got them, they tend to get put on a lamp post for a couple of weeks then moved somewhere else
but obviously, if an offence is forthcoming I would just like to seek some info

Sure it was a pcso? Round here we’ve got a mass of ‘community speed watch ‘ bods with their cameras, if you were speeding you'll just get a letter rapping you over the knuckles Mind you, i live in Norfolk where we don't do policemenists

Can't help with the link, but were you doing an INDICATED 35? If so, you're probably ok. Most speedos are 5-10% out (under reading) so Police won't prosecute unless you're 10% +2 i.e a real 35 mph.
Now, if you were doing 35mph, you're likely to get a Notice of Intended Prosecution (or NIP) which is aksing who the driver is. This will go to the Registered Keeper of the vehicle first of all, so if it's a lease car / company vehicle it'll go to them first. You will not be able to use the "I didn't get this in 14 days" excuse if the company then nominate you.
If it comes down to it that you get a NIP, don't try and get out of it - you'll just end up getting a court hearing and if you start questioning the camera itself such as calibration etc, you won't be taking on the Police - it then falls in to the hands of the Home Office - rest assured their experts will be better than yours. Then it gets rather expensive.
The option of the Speed Awareness Course may be offered. It's usually the same price or a bit cheaper than the fine & points. Takes a few hours but if you prefer a clean licence, it's probably a good idea.

I have got into the habit of driving to my satnav Which spends most of its time just following my journeys The speedo in my rrc doesn’t work properly anyway, tops out at 30mpg, but its interesting how many speed display devices on lampposts etc are inaccurate, i even got one flash up ‘30’ at me whilst i was following a cropsprayer at an indicated 23mph the other day!

I think I keep seeing references to a site called "Pepipoo" in other threads, that might be the one. From what I read in our local FB group, community speedwatch tends to result in a letter if you're significantly over, or if you repeatedly offend, rather than a NIP.

Pepipoo is probably what you're looking for.
It's a general forum and info site for defending/anticipating motoring offences

Pepipoo is probably what you're looking for. It's a general forum and info site for defending/anticipating motoring offences thats the one was deffo a PCSO, I saw his jacket and those letters on it as I went past him, mrs yellow also noted the same as she was in passenger seat I should really have gone back the other way to have another look, but I would probably say that they were just monitoring from what I have read up to now, a PCSO alone could not issue a ticket, they would need to be with a Policeman. anyway, not heard anything yet, I will let you know if I do.

I don't think that you are likely to hear anything. During the last lockdown I got nabbed twice within two weeks by a roadside van (in the same place - yes, I am stupid!!). I know I was speeding and I saw the red light on the front of the camera flash as it took the picture. I later learned that any speeding offence that was reasoably close to the speed limit was being ignored because the police were unable to give the offender the oportunity to take the traffic education course in place of a fine due to coronavirus imposed distancing restrictions. Presumably they decided that they would open a whole can of legal worms if they removed the re-education option and just slapped a fine and points on you. Consequently they have had to just ignore any minor speeding offences clocked by a camera.

You were lucky, people were having to do them via video conferencing. Not sure if you got an option to do it in person at a later date.

Local PCSO's own the community 'Speedwatch' programme. They also get local residents/volunteers to assist in a lot of cases.
You'll maybe receive a letter advising you to slow down and be added to the stats reported in the monthly PCSO 'Beat Report'. They really love reporting on the high speed ones - gets them well excited (and they still only get a letter of course)

I likewise now use my Sat Nav to monitor vehicle speed. I can't explain why, but it just seems so much easier, for some strange reason. We have a very, very active Speedwatch lot in out village in North West Norfolk, much to the annoyance of many residents. I have just found that it's easier to drive to the limit and let them get on with it.

I find it strange i was watching police traffic caught by the cops on telly last night and a car suspected of being used for robberies was hunted down and pulled over with an uninsured driver at the wheel the car was taken due to no insurance and the driver said its not my car i borrowed it but don't know who from. No further action was taken against the driver over the robberies as they couldn't prove who was driving but if it was a speeding offence and you are insured and the legal owner you must tell them who was driving or you are fitted up with the fine and points so why not with any other crime involving a car..

It never ceases to amaze me how many muppets are prepared to attempt to move huge amounts of drugs around the country in cars that either have a marker on them already or are untaxed/insured/no mot Why not just write ‘ nick me’ across the windscreen? 🤔
