Always had a soft spot for PT Cruisers (and Chevy HHRs too, for that matter) despite the retro theme. Not sure if the reputation as being bad vehicles is really deserved, or it’s a case of unsympathetic owners driving them into the dirt then complaining.

The styling is marmite, you either like them or hate them, but worst car ever made ? (sounds like a Clarkson "proclamation") not by a long way. I've had 3 (although the current one is actually my wife's) 1 petrol and 2 diesel's, all reliable, comfortable, loads of room (especially with the seats out) my only real criticism would be the turning circle, which you learn to live with  The current 2007 Ltd  |

my only real criticism would be the turning circle, which you learn to live with Oh my word I had no idea until yesterday how bad it is. The road outside my house is easily 3 point turnable in almost everything I own...but not this. A car that's only about 4.3 metres long has no right to be this hard to turn! Big fan of the rear seats popping out so easy..made cleaning yesterday much more bearable. |

The 3 rear seat options are quite clever, as are the little wheels on the seats to make them easy to move. Also the way the front passengers seat folds flat gives you quite an extended load space. Wait till you try supermarket parking  |

After a long, disappointing and frustrating morning of trying to get the PT taxed I'm now just left to wait for my V62 to be processed. No tax, so no driving 😔 Decided to make the best of it, so started off pulling the thermostat on the 159 as it was never quite getting up to temp.  Not the toughest job...2 one use clips and 3 T27 bolts. Most folk suggested removing the battery to get to it but, aware of the issues I caused last time I pulled the battery, I decided against it. It wasn't really in the way anyway. Took it to the shops, it sticks at 90 as it's supposed to.  Now without the V5 in hand I'm loathe to spend much money on repair parts just in case things go south...but it doesn't cost me anything to wash it does it? Looking pretty sorry for herself this morning  Looking better already  The forbidden ribena - Bilt Hamber alloy wheel cleaner is my chemical of choice.  Couple of hours elbow grease later. The body is remarkably straight, even if it'll never be regarded as pretty      Engine before  A very liberal application of Bilt Hamber degreaser, an old detailing brush, and an equally liberal dose of Autoglym vinyl and rubber care later  Even the inside looks respectable, and it smells 100 times better too.  Can't actually drive it but 🤣🤣🤣 |
