I’m after some advice on wiring in my fuel pump as I’ve gone from mechanical to electrical, I know that I have to wire it to a relay but it says on line that it goes to the oil pressure sensor. I know I’m probably gonna sound daft but is that why my old engine only had one connection as my new turbo engine has a longer sensor with two connections. I’m hoping that someone can simplify it for me. Hope I’ve explained this issue well enough. Any help and advice will be much appreciated.

I wonder if the idea of wiring to the oil pressure sensor may be some form of automatic cut-off if you have an accident (sorry, incident) which causes the engine to stop, so it doesn't carry on pumping fuel. What I can't figure out is how it would allow the engine to start, unless you have enough oil pressure while cranking to allow the pump to run. Unless of course that's what the other wire does.
Other people I know who have converted to electric (on other cars) use an inertia cut-off switch.
It'll be interesting to hear what the proper answer is.

Personaly I would just use the inertia switch, if you lose oil pressure you will have probably trashed the engine by the time the fuel in the carb runs out anyway and it's just something else to make the car unreliable.

i seem to remember the oil pressure switch works the opposite way in the turbo my turbo metro had a weep on the switch changed it out they gave me a normal mg 1275 one and the oil pressure light stayed on changed it out for a turbo one (i shat myself thinking id done the bottom end lol )

For my Saab 96 I've used a Ford inertia switch (used £5-£10 on eBay) and a Saab 900 fuel pump relay, which switches the pump off if there's no pulse from the coil, i.e. the engine has died for whatever reason, or the ignition is on but the engine hasn't been started.
