the history on the car has gaps prior to our ownership, but there is evidence of servicing, and a replacement roof during this time. Over the last three years the car has had the following spent:
• june 2017 - hardtop stand & harness - £90 (included in the sale of course)
• july 2017 – emp performance secondary cat back exhaust system - £500
• november 2017 – mechanical overhaul, inc large service, spark plugs, all filters, rear pads and discs, brake master cylinder reservoir, autobox cooler pipe, power steering pump, brake pipes, temp sensor, gearbox service, brake fluid change - £1600
• may 2018 – mot, clean distributor caps and rotors, rear brake hoses and brake fluid - £180
• july 2018 – replace air condenser & ac service, replace radiator & coolant - £1360
• october 2018 – oil & filter service and replace ignition switch - £550
• november 2018 – replace all 3 main coolant hoses + coolant, and flexi hoses for transmission oil cooler - £410
• may 2019 – mot, replace front brake pads and sensors, replaced both front shock absorber top mounts, replaced both front brake hoses, brake fluid change - £900
• october 2019 – oil & filter service - £214
• october 2019 – transmission fluid change + filter, replace seals on master cylinder reservoir and brake fluid change - £390
receipts for all of the above work come with the car, totalling - £6200 – therefore confirming the financial commitment that has gone into this car for it’s next owner. Looking at the original maintenance booklet i have, i can see evidence of the following services:
• 29/5/92 – pre delivery inspection
• 18/8/92 – 1546 miles
• 6/7/93 – 6033 miles
• 16/3/94 – 12786 miles
• 11/7/95 – 19169 miles
• 25/4/96 – 24297 miles
• 3/9/97 – 31506 miles
• 12/2/98 – 37431 miles
• 3/10/98 – 42276 miles
• 22/6/99 – 49217 miles
• 5/1/04 – 85500 miles
• 28/5/04 – 88646 miles
• 16/7/05 – 93225 miles
• 25-6/07 – 95674 miles
• 3/11/17 – 102329 miles
• 1/11/18 – 106152 miles
• 17/10/19 – 109282 miles
the only non original feature is the rear silencer with twin exit pipes which is too new to replace and looks much better anyway.
a working spare key, manuals, paperwork and the hardtop stand will be sold with the car. In addition to a new hood, it looks like the car has had paint at some point in its life.
unfortunatley, in the first week of owning the car the corner of the bumper was damaged manouvering into our driveway. I have been quoted £300 to repair this so will either carry out the work prior to purchase, or discount down by £300 to allow you to choose the bodyshop for the repair.
the car comes with an aftermarket jvc cassette player and 15cd changer in the boot. The cd changer works perfectly. The car runs and drives beautifully but as always there are imperfections, so i have listed those i am aware of below:
some bolster wear on drivers seat, it hasn’t gone right through and could no doubt be repaired
one small paint repair on the drivers side rear corner (above the rear light cluster). was on the car when we bought it and hasn’t got worse
paint damage on the drivers side front bumper corner as detailed above and shown in the pictures
to summarise, this is an 8/10 car.
luckily, being a mid 1992 car, this avoided the dreaded bio-degradable wiring loom issue that plagued 1993-1995 cars.
if it had the gaps in the history filled, and 30k less miles on it we’d be talking £15k plus, however it’s had pretty much everything possible done since 2017 so while there are no guarantees with a near 30 year old classic v8 mercedes, i’d feel pretty good about buying this one over one with little information in the advert and few receipts to show the recent work done.
the car is in regular use and has been 100% reliable. It is kept on a trickle charger if i know that it won't be used for a week or so. This is the sought after "066" chassis build and is appreciating faster than the later cars. I would certainly keep the car if covid, a job change and my personal curcumstances were different.
if you would like more photographs of any part of the car, please ask. Any doubts in your mind, please ask.
i will not entertain low ballers or tyre kickers. If you want to view and subsequently drive the car then please provide evidence of your fully comprehensive insurance. Otherwise it will be an accompanied test drive with me in the drivers seat, and both us wearing gloves and face masks.
