Here's some photos of our annual Opel meet here in Finland, held on the past saturday. It's been going on for over twenty years now, and is held twice a year. Once in the middle of summer, and the season finale in September. This year the summer meet was skipped because of the, well you know what. Originally the get-together was dedicated to Opel's ranging from 50s to 70s but in truth welcomes newer models too. Older vehicles still have the privilege to fill the field first though. This year we even had a Chevrolet Opala STW (Opel's South American cousin). According to hearsay, there are a few Opalas in Finland but I've never seen one in flesh before. This one didn't retain it's original straight six, but was powered by a Chevy 305 instead. We've had visitors from Sweden, Norway, Estonia, and Germany, and one particular, German parts vendor has been a mainstay for a few years now. At most we've had something like 120 Opels in attendance at one time, and we weren't far off this time either, as the weather was great.

I think I'd have the Mk3 Cav. Favourite colour and my favourite application for smoked Angel Eye headlights ever.

Good turn out of cars, though I spent more time dreamily looking in the background at the scenery! I visited your wonderful country a week before the UK lockdown, and I cannot wait to get back and explore more of it.
Kiitos!

I like the Diplomat.
That would be a great base for a Opel version of the AMG " Rote Sau"

Opel GT for me, please,
Thought they were achingly pretty first time I ever saw one. The years haven't changed that opinion.

Well this is just exactly what I love to see. Any extra info on the wide body Ascona? It's a Roadsport A -class race car, but I'm not sure of the exact specs right now. Here's a video of it, dated a few years back. KMP Racing ascona B 1.8t

We've had a really nice autumn weather this year, and the temperatures have been something like 18-21 degrees celsius, and without rain. Let's all hope, we can get rid of this virus nonsense soon.

I'll take the Chevette please Translated to Opel, that's a Kadett City. Originally with a 1.2 OHV four pot under it's bonnet but converted, for Opel six cylinder 12V CIH engine back in 1999. Not sure of the displacement though. In any case, that's a pretty big engine in a small car, as made obvious by the huge setback through the firewall.

Friends that we went with (one is Finnish) went back in July for a week and the weather looked stunning. Looking at Lapland again in March, more poronstyks! More Fazer chocolate! More Aurora! More Jaffa drink! We had hoped for Helsinki at Christmas (only had one night over last March and most things were shut) but sadly that won't happen now =[
