Typically, just as the cold snap starts, my blower fan on the 9000 has died. This other 9000 I have just bought has now had every. single. known. 9000 fault. Dodgy relays? Resoldered. vac lines? replaced. door solenoids? replaced. exhaust manifold gasket? replaced. dashboard lighting? replaced. rusty wheelarch? replaced. starter motor? replaced. heater matrix? yup. 'at least the blower motor is ok' - packed up last night. Although fitting another heating system is out of the question, does anyone has any experience of one of these chinese in car heater matrix? for 30 quid I can imagine one of these working quite well in a mini or other early BL stuff. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Hole-Car-Vehicle-Fan-Heater-Defroster-Winter-Heating-Warmer-Windscreen-12V/283949176167

I reckon it would be worth a go, it's got to be better than nothing, as long as it doesn't leak.

Bit more expensive, but how about one of the diesel heaters? Can be connected to the heater vents, but also can be set with a timer so your car is all toasty for you in the morning, at whatever temperature you set it to Ttfn Glenn

They are ace but expensive, however they do pop up on eBay as they are used in BT / Power board vans and the like. You would likely get your money back when it came time to move it on.

I was looking at this one for a more minimal heating option on the Acty but I couldn’t work out where the air goes to? Do you cut holes in the four circles on the front and connect air hoses to them which feed to your vents?

Behind the four lumps is the heat exchanger. You can cut holes into the part with lumps for hoses - this plate pushes on and off. If you remove that part you will find a slot built into the housing. The other option is to slot a plate of your chosing with any hose connection and have a better way of attaching your hoses. I used some sheet steel and tacked tubes onto it.
Its only issue is having to buy additional parts for heat control and distribution. But if you're doing a custom or DIY system that's to be expected.

Cheers for the details, the Acty cab is so tiny distribution control isn’t really a problem - I can just direct it all to the windscreen and would feel the effect all over.
