Thread name change. Now that I have (many) k11s and the price of fuel is pretty absurd compared to 2 years ago let's just keep this thread as a place to pop up pics and ideas for the humble little k11. Cars that imo will definitely be a bonified classic, if not already! Yo all. Hannah and I are looking to buy our first K11 Micra (all NZ ones are jdm imports and badged as Marches as you might know) - it'll be our little runabout for when the imp comes off the road (although that won't be for a while yet.. ) Hannah's brother in the UK has a Micra and we became quite fond of them there. I drove it the rrg last year. Was fun. I've asked the following questions on the micra sports club forum but it's a bit quiet there. I know there's a few lovers of micras on here that might be able to help. Not a lot of info on them in nz as they are still viewed as a shopping cart to use and abuse and don't really have a strong fanbase here. Our ultimate Micra would be a 2 door 1.3 pre-facelift manual with the S bits like rev counter etc - ideally in yellow. Dreams. We are going to look at a '96 pre-facelift 1.3 manual 4 door today. It has a rev counter and a few other bits that according to wiki might suggest its an S ? Its cheap so if all good then worth buying even though ultimately we want a 2 door. Its also a bland light blue/silver colour. There is a facelift 2000 2 door manual 1.0 that we looked at on Sunday. Still non-coilpack. Nice condition and in a nicer aqua green sort of colour. My idea is this. Buy both. Over time (when our workshop is quiet- we run a small at home engineering company) we would strip both cars and swap over bits. But I have questions. I have btw used the search feature but not found exact answers though... Will the wiring be much the same on the two engines? The engines are both dizzy equipped. Will the instrument cluster from the '96 fit into the pod on the 2000? Do cars not equipped with rev counters have an unused plug in the dash or are the plugs the same between both pods but internally different clusters etc. Or is it more involved- perhaps the '96 has a speedo cable and the later car is digital? If its too involved to fit the cluster (possibly the whole dash assembly with wiring too) from the early car into the newer one then we can just keep a look out for a cheap pre-facelift 2 door car. As I said - most are auto. Then swap over the pedal boxes etc. Are the wiring looms the same between autos and manuals, just unused plugs tied back where relevant. Do autos have a hole located for the clutch master cylinder blanked off? (I've not even checked but presume the clutch is hydraulic on Micras? ) That's enough of a wall of text for now... more questions later Alex P.s.. It won't stop me working on the imp 911 (well ok.. Just a little..)

Good. More NZ antics. I take it that this will eventually morph into a super turbo..... P.

Your best bet is to ask on the Micra Facebook pages, there's the Micra Sports Club Australia and Micra Sports Clubs on there. The forum does still get some traffic but it's pretty quiet. Don't take this as gospel, I could be wrong about all, most or some of this. The dashboard in the facelift will be very different, layout of heater /vents etc. The dash binnicle is the same shape but none of the wiring is the same, the Speedo in the facelift is digital, whereas it's a mechanical drive in the pre. Engine bay wiring is much better he same if it's a dizzy car. So your best bet may be to put the engine in, do the prefacelift panel work conversion, and sell the rev counter clocks. Opportunity to post pics is seldom resisted...

Thanks mark- I was not surprised to see you quip in I took the 1.3 for a hoon yesterday. WOW! Sooooo much faster and more usable! I made a cheeky cheap offer at around 350 squid. Waiting on reply. Its very very rough but drives well. I think he used it as a delivery car so I suspect its been trashed within an inch of its life! That'll explain the willing little engine. I might just buy it and keep a look out for a cheap 2 door pre- facelift auto 1.0 to swap the 1.3/manual stuff over to. Then Hannah and I discovered the Japanese auctions via carwebs.co.nz Found this gem listed- lots of extras inc lsd, nice wheels etc. Cheap car but once landed in nz it adds up...

Ohhh, the shape of the grill suggests that is an even more special G#. Will likely have all the factory options. Surprising it's not an auto though.

Only know I like them too, like so many small cars. Noticed the drivers seat differs So yes, it could be more special, and manual. Choices......

How common are LSDs on Micras? I could be wrong but I don't think any left the factory with them. They may have been available as a NISMO part for building race/rally cars but none of the standard model range was that fancy.

Clicking that link delivers:
Since this thread here is somehow abandoned, why not change the title to something like Micra appreciation thread or Love for Micra K11s or something more creative? Just to gather some interesting pics like it has already been started in here.
The K11 is growing on me, too, especially now the micra has so massively grown with the current version!

K11 micra are brilliant, a proper classic imo. I've had 2, a black 1.0 and a green 1.4se+. The 1 4 suprised me many times, probably shouldntve sold it. Always wanted a prefacelift but both mine were face-lift. The only wiring difference I'm aware of is the rear lights. I put prefacelift ones on mine, and authough they have the same plugs, the wires were in a different order.

^^^ Same with my Daihatsu Move. Facelift rearlights fit perfectly, I only needed to adapt a small piece of cable to each plug, since the positions were swapped upside down and cables not long enough.

Whoops. Yeah you'll have to register on oldschool for access to most things other than the build threads. And yeah.. I'll change the name of this thread.
