So in preparation of possibly dismantling and dropping the fuel tank to get to see the wiring, I lifted the rear end, again. I’m wondering how many times this thing has gone up and down since it got here. Anyway, another small job done. Fitted the handbrake cable spacer Nick turned for me from some Nylon he had, added a circlip and hey presto….. Next job will be to remove the wheels, AGAIN, and set the handbrake and pads to a level where it is functional for the MOT test. Weekend almost over. Need to go find something in the garage though.

Hi Rian,
I can only reiterate what others have said already. I've just come back from the Mopar Euros Nationals up at Santa Pod. While I was there, I got into a lengthy conversation with a chap that's restoring a 58 Plymouth Plaza amongst a load of other Mopars he owns. Now.....being surrounded by tonnes of the very best American metal ever! ( well....in my opinion it is 😎 )....I found myself hesitant ( out of embarrassment ) to mention that I was fully restoring an old VW truck. But I did mention it....eventually....and to my surprise he was very interested in what I had to say. Probably because he was just a really nice chap that liked to listen....but also, he had this to say;
" Because projects can take years to complete they have to be navigated around real life events. If you restore cars/vehicles of any kind and you talk to someone else that has done the same thing, it's not always about what's being restored, but more than often about the mutual respect of knowing the pleasure, pain, cost and just general hard work and dedication that has to go into any project to see it through to the end "
.......and he's right!
What you have there Rian is a one of a kind vehicle....done your way. I, like others, think it's great and this thread hasn't just been focused on the build, but also the journey you've been on to get there. What you have now didn't just happen over night. So....give yourself a pat on the back and keep doing what you do best.....it wouldn't be right any other way 👍🏻

One forgets that at times that these things take time, effort, and do not just happen. Hopefully I will get back to it over the weekend, though Sally has asked for Saturday.

Beer time. another project in the making Just getting these wheels cleaned and painted will be a project in themselves. Imagine them on the Rezin Rockit, wider tyres, detailed, painted and even lower than it is now….. Thanks to westbay for poking his fingers in my wallet like Paul Y does…… I now have some of these badges headed my way. Certainly apt for this build.

Grizz reading through your projects over a few years gives the rest of us some inspiration to go forth into the unknown ourselves and get stuck into our projects to the best of our ability which does vary but thats what makes RR unique

Loving the badges, So very "Grizz" 😁😁 Nigel LOL I blame Tony outright. Certainly appeals to my twisted side. Grizz reading through your projects over a few years gives the rest of us some inspiration to go forth into the unknown ourselves and get stuck into our projects to the best of our ability which does vary but thats what makes RR unique I have said it before….. This place is perfect with all its variety. And to be honest, why be a sheep.

Few small tweaks today. I actually drilled and tapped another earth…… After more digging around we found that the fuel pump relay was not working correctly, so John bridged it and it fired right up. More testing after opening it up showed it could be closed and be made to work. So a brilliant bodge installed, closing the switch permananetly. I need to get a working MX5 relay like this to replace the fitted one. So then 20 litres of fuel into the tank, and a small prayer we turned the key. And after all the ups n downs, it fired up, lumpy at first then settled into a idle. Revving it up reminds me of an Alfa Giulia when I was growing up. Once over the jubilation, trying to get the heater/blower fan going was a major fail………. To be revisited another day. Next job was to bleed the clutch master cylinder. Lots of murky brown fluid. Failed to get it sorted as well. So I took the MC off and inspected it. Looks like a replacement may be due or recommended. I am guessing it is an original Ford part though.

So nearly there 👍
I realised my skill level when I worked out 'MC' meant master cylinder and felt pleased with myself 😁

Hate the badge personally - I swear a lot but I hate swear words on cars or clothing - kids can read it and for me it's just wrong.

It lives!!!
Well done. You seem to keep trucking on - a great example to us all. Here in Minnesota, I’m claiming that the heat and humidity is keeping me out of the garage. To be honest, it’s keeping me out of anywhere that isn’t air conditioned.
I need to get my car finally running. I’m going to have to get SOMETHING done on it tomorrow.
Thanks for leading by example!
