If you can find one a na mx5 might be easier (no imobiliser or abs) though a nb is perfectly doable.
I woukd keep the ford suspension and steering, with shorter springs or even bags, then transplant the engine box hvac and all the wiring over.

Last thing tonight, unless my friend Insomnia comes to visit again. In order for us to all be singing off the same Nando’s menu, a few very simple objectives for this build I want this to be a side project, if that is even possible. It needs to be really simple and without fancy programming, machining and trick parts (all that is relative of course) Easy to find parts and maintenance, using as much standard parts nd as much of what is on the car. Low, rather than high. As silly a power to mass ratio as one can get without sacrificing r3liability. There is just no use in building some exotic car that’s always broken down or waiting for the next exotic parts. All advice, help, guidance thankfully accepted. This following car is not exactly what I want to build, but certainly my general direction. Built for fun, to do the hill climb at RRG ‘18 in a short timeframe by a large team of friends and knowledgable chaps. I have been chatting with @phoenixcapri as well, he has given some advice and may be along with more. I looked at one way back, I think I passed on it as it was Cortina based and I’d thought it was one with an Escort based chassis ( I was building the 100E at the time and wondered if I could modify the chassis to suit as the ‘E was so rotten! ). It was a friend of a friend, son had moved out and left that and a 105E dumped on the drive. Somehow I still have the catalogue* Looks like this is going to be fun 🙂 *Even if I don’t have the ability to post the pics the right way round! 😩 Do you have more spec sheet pics please?     That’s the only page dedicated to the Jeep as the catalogue covers other models they produced as well. You’re welcome to it if it’s of use / interest though it does just give basic info on the Jeep |

Bit of a story, couple of weeks ago I was clearing space in the attic and came across a stack of kit car magazines from the early nineties, always wanted to built one, I did but not quite what I had envisaged back then. Anyway had a quick flick through some of them and laid them aside for a proper browse later. Fast forward to yesterday, I was doing some software updates on my website and happened to notice this picture of the one kit I did build  That reminded me of this thread and the magazines, had another quick look and found about 4 build articles for Eagle RV's if your interested I'll scan them and get them to you ? Got a fair stack of magazines so if anyone is looking for info on a particular kit car from the early nineties let me know and I'll have a look in the mags. All the usual suspects are there, Quantum, Dax, Eagle, Caterham, Robin Hood etc etc |

Well. Bank holiday weekend is pretty much over. Still need to get the trailer and fetching sorted for the Rezin Rockit. Thought I would wait till after the weekend. Getting here..... Bill has been looking out for bits already, he seems to have a knack for finding bits. Running about and searching between his home and the stash spot. Some distance away.  Hidden here.......  The one rear light lense has been missing. At this point we have no idea where it actually could be from. Wide search area by Bill.     So right now the search is still on. |

I think it entirely depends on the abilities and choices of the builder. I’d guess between 1000 and 1250 kg, depending on engine, gearbox and axle choices, together with how much tat they bolted to it. If you really wanted to, and were starting with a modern all alloy engine and gearbox for your 140bhp, only had rear wheel drive, and built down to a weight rather than up to a specification, I’d think you could comfortably come in around the 750kg mark, so 180+ bhp/tonne. Quick, in other words. 😉 Thanks Glen. That makes sense. I would want only two seats, no bull bars, towbars (probably) and as little as possible extra weight. Motor and trans....?/ Here is a clue on the donor. Around 140bhp from 1800cc which I suspect one could tweak a bit.  PS II do like wide steels, or some of the nice 13” Japanese style alloys. Hope that makes sense. More detail nd pics tomorrow or so. These respond well to a bit of forced induction and can be all done bolt on, internals are pretty bulletproof up to about 280bhp! |
