Bought some relays for the headlights. Seems I bought the wrong ones. Need the other type. Bugggerr. Nick suggested….. They need to be double 'make or break' and not 'changeover' like a lot of 5 post relays, But I still managed to get it wrong. Seems the MX5 has some or other positive earth or whatever, I don’t understand. So the LED headlights need some cleverness. Grrrrrrr.

I know diddly squat, but going to try sort some shirt out.
Fire extinguisher won’t be on standby. But should be.

You should be able to use a pair of make or brake relays.
The mx5 lights have a positive feed and are switched to earth, so take the positive feed and connect it to both one of the load contacts and one side of the energising coil on the relay, connect the switched earth to the other side of the energising coil and the headlamp positive to the other load contact, then finaly connect the ground of the lamps to ground. You will need to do this for each circuit ( main, dip ) and one relay can do both sides just connect the 2 dip and 2 main positives to the same contact on the relay.

Pin 30 and 86 connect to the existing 12v feed to the headlamps, pin 85 to the switched earth for the lights and pin 87 is now a switched live for the headlamps.

Taken the day off tomorrow to spend some time on myself. Yesterday a major clusterfuck of a redundancy was announced, it will be swift and brutal it seems, wrapped up by end July, and nobody knows yet. It will be a surprise it seems. Nobody knows. So I raised the car once again on axle stands. And strung an old bedsheet in place as a dummy sun screen roof. Spoke to a sailmaker today who is also prepared to look at the S10 bed cover. Maybe get two birds with one stone. Tomorrow, depending on how it unfolds, I want to go through all fasteners and ensure they are tight and right.

Hope all goes well re: redundancy
Just recently back to work after my "incident". It's been exhausting, I'm lucky enough to be able to go part-time packing through an agency, but it's physically destroyed me in this weeks heat!
Thr abilities of youth you take for granted!
51 is no longer "youth", but I think it's doing me good. A bit of thinking and organising, a lot of lifting!!!

I think that it will be a nasty one from the way they are sticking to the extreme end of keeping it quiet and totally legal. If it is decided on pure performance and activity, I am right at the top of the region, and actually in half one of 2022 I was second on the national rankings. However, this does not mean a thing, we are a mix of headcount and contractors. I am a contractor, so more disposable than headcount. Despite being on this contract since 2016 It will be what it will be. The positive about losing your job is not having to go to work…… Ohhh, and a potentially extended road trip. Life continues to be good, even if it is interesting.

I won’t go looking for another job in the industry as it all the same. So for now, I just do the best I can and make a difference in patient lives. Walking past a skip, my eyes are drawn in there. Walking the dog yesterday, the farm house had a new skip outside……. Unused, like new….. phone holder, that will work for the Rezin Rockit and my mobile phone when I need a Satnav. Free really is good.

My place seems to be reducing numbers by not replacing those who leave. That means some departments are on ‘last rights’, making it more difficult for the rest of us to do our jobs.
Hope it turns out okay. You have great communication skills and problem solving, so even if the worst happens, I’m sure it won’t be for long.

However, and one needs to be careful what you post out in the www. I would say management or the lack of it is partly to blame, but hey……. The whole healthcare industry and also NHS is changing, has changed etc, so some stuff is inevitable. I would prefer to stay employed, obviously, but if I need to, I would do whatever jobs need doing to pay my bills. 10 years ago I was working in a factory and on building sites while looking for a job I wanted. So it could happen again, though of course we do grow older and slower. I certainly do not take it personally, but knowing that my performance is constantly in the top 1/4 if not 10% nationally reflects more on the state of affairs than on me.

Carrying on with small jobs that are within my abilities had me check and mark off all underbody fasteners yesterday, my usual Red marking nail varnish seems to have disappeared, so,I opted for white, which does look rather rubbish on the black paint everywhere. Still, another important job ticked off the list. My good friend Kevin popped around for a progress check,,chat and coffee in the afternoon, so I used him to give opinion and comments too. Also finalised the gearshift extension position and lock nut nickwheeler had made and bolted the covering plate down for hopefully the last time. Last late afternoon job was to final fix the modified fresh air intake inside the wheel arch, up high, facing back and out of harms way. Shop shut early and then a drive and walk to go see how much hedgerow plums I could find for a batch of planned plum jam Yield is down this year, the fruit is a lot smaller and certainly a lot less than previously. So I may have to go search further afield.

I have just caught up here, superficially at least; I hope that the job situation is resolved satisfactorily, however that may be. If you run out of things to do, you can avoid boredom by helping me with garden and garage stuff. Beer, proper grub and ice cream supplied.😎

Sorry to hear about the re-structure mate, hopefully sense preveils and your not affected by it.
Our place has restructures every 2-4 years - although they darent do one atm as I am the 3rd youngest in the office (I'm 39) and they don't have a plan for 75% of the staff taking VR (most are over 60 and ready to go) lol.
