glad to hear it all went well and great pics to back it up THANKS ERNIE. Thanks Tony, nickwheeler is totally in charge of progress. Driving it next week then? 😉 Great idea, need a serious building party with a few clever guys……… I will do the food. Driving it next week then? 😉 A rolling chassis is only about 10 minutes 'work'..... Nick, your 10 minutes are my 10 hours and bloody knuckles "Plus my initial thoughts on lowering the Rezin Rockit, which may not happen, due to the amount of invasive work it would take, including cutting up the body and trans tunnel. Still, nothing is yet cast in stone. " Wouldn't it be easier (? ) to to build a four link rear end with short coil overs front and rear ? Fair bit of fabrication and welding at the rear but minimal or no body cutting ... Just a thought ... WAAAAYYY Too ambitious and costly for me. The easiest and completely IVA compliant way is probably to keep the chassis as it is and drop the body over it to get the right visual (think dez's 34 truck), I can't imagine it will be a great challenge to cut a fiberglass floor out and bond it in higher up. I would love it all magically done at the click of fingers. Problem becomes floor, trans tunnel, steering etc etc. For now…..

just saw this artwork for sale £100 ha ha but thought of the resin rocket Concept is cool. Like the pig on page one. Would love something in this style on the rear. My eyes are always open for interesting things that can be used, modified or adapted.

I've been having a look at the photos, I reckon you coud cut the floor trans tunnel etc about 2 inches up the vertical surface the move it up 4 inches and bolt /bond it to the remainder of the vertical surface. Will need carefull measuring but looks doable.

Got distracted by television of all things last night, a programme called The Outlaws that I had seen advertised and recorded. For a guy who does not watch a lot of telly, it distracted me nicely. Back to the build, I guess it will evolve as it does. As far as cutting and moving is concerned, we will have to see how it all unfolds.

All well thanks Jackie got her all clear at 6 months so looking forward to xmas, been busy building a outbuilding round the outlaws for the last few weeks so not much on the cars (range rover makes a good builders wagon though). On the rocket, I think get the suspension back on, get the engine/ box mounted then rest the body back on and have a good think about the ride height and how we get it to the right look.

Great news on Jackie ! And yes, wagons are vital when building, even my Focus is proving itself to be so much more of a tool than a BMW or Merc would have been. Looking forward to,hoiking and dragging the suspension back together again, your springs will go in the rear, and hopefully work.

Here is a pic I lifted off FB. Remember it in future when we start talking paint designs etc. nickwheeler seems to be quite convincing when it comes to making big jobs look a lot smaller than I see them. All about perspective ehhhh. It started out because I am still hoping to find another RX8 passenger seat to either add to the one I have, or even trade for the adjustable drivers seat I have but do not want. So Nick reckons (correctly) painting the Rezin Rockit is quick and cheap, due to it being such a simple vehicle. I like this design, the red one at the bottom. Can it be altered and something created in that style to suit the completed car?

On the rocket, I think get the suspension back on, get the engine/ box mounted then rest the body back on and have a good think about the ride height and how we get it to the right look. That was exactly my suggestion. It's only four bolts each end to get the suspension back under the frame, and a few minutes with some muscle to get the body in place. Fitting the engine and box to a rolling frame isn't a lot of work, and would be major progress. I think Rian can get most of the look he wants with some readily available lowering springs and bigger tyres. That would save a lot of work moving the suspension and/or body around, both of which would be dependent on a considerable amount of help from other people. That's without the knock-on effects of what looks like a simple job: moving the front subframe up 100mm means doing the same with the whole front of the chassis which will also force body changes; moving the rear up the same amount means moving all of the mounting points, rear crossmember and floor; chanelling the body means a lot of fibreglass work that is unlikely to be as simple as it looks, moving the pedals and steering column, and will probably make the seating position like sitting on a tea tray.

I like this design, the red one at the bottom. Can it be altered and something created in that style to suit the completed car? They're both clean, simple, classic styles that use colour well. And as mentioned, paint is the cheapest way of adding a custom look to bodywork. The bottom one would suit the lines of the car well, and the actual design of the stripes are easy to mockup on the car with some paper and masking tape. Then all it needs is a vibrant red and sparkly silver. Which would be another reason to get the pile of parts looking like a car again. The top design and colours would look good a sportscar like a Sprite or even MGF

Agreed, Top one looks very similar to the designs they have used on the 3 wheeled Morgans.
Something like the bottom one done on Graffiti paint shouldn't break the bank either. to make it look lower it would probably work better to have the graphics going lengthwise perhaps in some sort of lightning shape along the side as well.

I think we might have another shared interest and this The child in me is alive. That bike and sidecar must be craziest, most expensive commission you ever did, but just awesome. It would be an indoors thing for my home.

I think the steering, pedals and tea tray are the points where the hero in me steps away. I am not sure what we can get done once the body is on, but those mods need to be pushed in order to maximise the lowered look.

I do have a load of very very very RED bought for the C10 a few years ago, and some Mercedes Benz off white. But buying paint, graffiti or regular will be a relatively small part of the cost, and easy to justify on a car with a valid MOT and insurance.

Thanks mate yes it is up there with one of my craziest ideas ever it is one of the few that actually made it into reality and so glad I managed to talk a very talented guy into building the sidecar for me this is also in my top 10 mad ideas and was a lot of fun apologies for hijacking your thread, I'll get off it now

Weather has been a bit chilly, windy and wet. I had planned on doing something, anything, down at the garage yesterday and today. Nope, rubbish weather, so yesterday,I cleaned the cooker and helped Sally with some of her crafting stuff, posted elsewhere. This morning I had the osteopath at 09.00 and some shopping after that. Then came home, cleaned the fireplace and started a fire. Deciding indoors was a much nicer place than outside…….. So much more sensible, and nicer. Yes, it would have been nicer doing what nickwheeler had suggested, slipping some bits together. Tomorrow I may regret it, but man it is chilly outside today.

It was 37c at the weekend here in Perth so we went over to Rottnest Island which is the only place in the world you can find the happiest creature on Earth, the Quokka.
