MOT pass is reassuring, and easily justifies the 'do it once, by doing it right' approach. Wheels Day is six weeks away, which ought to be enough time to deal with any bugs and build some confidence in it. Although I suspect it's too late to book a space on the show field. Thanks a ton for all your help, asvice, moaning etc. I have a few things to do, front wheel bearings, brake light, clutch etc. But it can go on the toad now and be tested etc. I would not park in the show fiepd even if offered a spot. Too restrictive if I wanted to leave by 3.00pm. Congratulations on the MOT! Well done! Any running issues remaining or does it now run well? Thanks mate. I think more mileage to just get it back to being a car, and then possibly a tuning service to get it fine tuned. Wheel alignment etc is now just fettling. Awesome result Rian - really pleased for you. Cheers, Steve Thank you very much Steve. A mammoth team effort for sure. Checked out the tax online for the car. £295……. That’s a lot of money. If you add £110.00 insurance, £202.00 recovery service and £50.00 MOT test, getting on the road is not cheap. Still, the more you drive, the cheaper it gets.

I'd be tempted with taxing it on DD, bit more expensive but you can sorn it at any point and not have to worry about refunds. Are you going for a midnight drive tonight then? p.s - it passed it's test on my 40th

April to September, or March to August, as I usually road trip end August into September. Midnight ride….. 4’C outside and breezy right now. Happy belated birthday.

Could bring it over to the Sheppy Lazy Saturday meet this coming weekend for a run out. Might even get the MG out if I could get motivated enough.

Could bring it over to the Sheppy Lazy Saturday meet this coming weekend for a run out. Might even get the MG out if I could get motivated enough. Darren has asked me to pop over and bring it down. There are a few “vital jobs” that I need to do first. Road tax, easy enough. I have taken Friday off work, so have a day to get to some of them. Front wheel bearings need tightening up a CROWN space, or need replacing if tightening does not work. Once bearings are sorted, the front wheel alignment needs to be professionally set down in Strood, as well as checking the wheel balancing as there is a vibration at 30-40mph which could be bearings or wheels, I do not recall if I had them balanced when fitting the new tyres a year or more ago. One Brake light went out on way to test, so a connection, fitting or bulb needs replacing. And a decent test drive on bypass to ensure it is happy running.

Any vinyl sign or sticker makers on here? ems1 who did all the work for the “Not a Project” Chevy Blazer was going to do these logos for me, once an MOT was attained. Unfortunately, he is now not able to do this. He does however still have the artwork for these stickers and can forward it if needed. I need a pair of bonnet stickers made up like below….. as always, at a sensible price or less. And probably cut lettering in white vinyl to stick onto the black stripe, instead of cutting it out of the black stripe. Bonnet looks like this, and I am NOT going to do any work to it. Stripes will run up the side, like on Wrangler, Sahara and other models. Ideally I want the sign to be 100mm high and up to 950mm long, but 800mm minimum Using the top one of the lower three in Black. Please discuss or PM if you are able, or know someone. I think it will be a nice touch.

Got home early today. Off work after all….. Taken the next 4 Fridays off, as we lose our vacation if we don’t use it by end March. Chilly,5’C with a brisk breeze. Went and checked what was thought to be the wheel bearing. Turns out that with all the fitting, and removing of the 4x108 to 4x100 adapters, I must have omitted to lock it down the last time I reassembled the front end. Will take a drive tomorrow to go have the alignment done and feel of the vibration has ceased. And George who has become a garage cat/follower down to the garage, also insists on watching and waiting for you to get showered. I checked the rear brake light, bulb filament was intact, and I could not see if it worked when I hit the brake pedal. So will try later in the dark. Been thinking, considering this is very much a summer car, I think insuring by direct debit on a monthly basis, despite it being more costly on a year on year basis, not paying for 6 months when the weather drives us indoors, may just be a sensible move. Opinions?

If you pay for 12 months then SORN it after 6 (exact by the day) pretty sure you get a full refund of remaining months so works out tiny bit cheaper if you have the cash burning a hole... James

James Grizz, sorry miss read your message I think. I Was talking about road tax (or whatever it’s called these days) Insurance I’d keep for the year as worth too much to loose vs cost savings on only insuring for part of the year. Insurance will charge a fair bit to stop early and probably add up to cost of extra couple months cover. James

So I will tax it on DD as it will surely be sat through winter with no use.

Saw this great rebody….. Must be an amazing engineer, or a policeless state or something like that. Over here…. Not sure it would make it off the driveway I am still gutted the 2CV van seller never came back to me, or read my messages. He is a FB non-entity it seems. With some effort, this could have been a cool, silly build. Day off today, so headed out to have a few things professionally done.

Ultimately an uneventful day. Alignment guys could not help, booked in for next Friday. Fronts balanced. Rears are getting some wider 215/65-15’s I am buying from Paul Y to replace the 195/60’s fitted on these 8J rims. Today craigrk is coming down via Pauls place to play and see the new for 2023 build. Chilly outside though.

Cheers Warren I guess what is left on the RR is really fettling. Small jobs that are coming to light, like coolant hoses leaking, brake light, towing wiring etc. Maybe it is time to introduce the new for 2023 PITA build. .

Sunday fun. My day was less than perfect. Wrote up a bit of Cantaloupe and posted a video and pics. Then moved cars about and took Rezin Rock-no-go for a drive to see Nick up at the farm. I used his trailer originally to recover it and he is currently struggling with his wifes real CJ7 he built for her, he is a good builder. He was impressed as well with the whole build and MOT result. I then drove back to thr main road, ostensibly to go for a drive to go do some photos of Rockit if I found a decent spot. Poop, the thing died 500 meters from home. Refusing to restart. Thankfully it’s downhill all the way from the farm, well a slope really. Back home it still refused to start. Not sure if a wire has slipped off or something bigger. So I just rolled it from the kitchen down and dumped it in the carport. Thought it a good sign to take S10 truck for a run as I really enjoy using it and pop in at Mercdan68 to see if he has bought anything interesting lately. As I got to the truck out on the front drive the new neighbor landed and asked if I could come help him swap roof panels around on his wifes summer house (he says its a shed with glass doors and French windows) Perfect distraction. So I reversed it back and parked the truck, saving myself £10 in fuel, made myself a coffee and got some tools and went to help him. Ended up doing roofing felt and trims. Perfect afternoon for me as I did manage to distract myself and forget about the dead car parked over the hedge. . Horrible bitumen paint to help seal and secure overlaps. I never use it. And once done, along with fighting the wind that was making it a bit awkward, it looked OK. Next job for his wife, is to paint it some variation of green. Suddenly is was 4.30 and I went home, shut shop and went indoors to cook dinner as Sally had been at work and I had offered to feed her. I will look at the Rezin Rockit when I get time. This week is a bit hectic.

Did it run out of fuel? Thom Good call But I filled it with 65 litres 10 miles ago. I was so disgusted that I couldn’t even start looking for faults.

It's going to happen Grizz, a few months of niggle fixing so get used to the odd breakdown whilst you iron out it's wobbly's! The the more miles you do, the quicker it gets sorted as weird as that sounds. If it wasn't 400 miles, I'd have loved to have given you a hand with this project

You couldnt have mistakenly filled it with diesel could you?
