Could we have a new rule on this please? Seems certain folk on here like to kick the hornets nest and then run away before they get what’s coming to them. If somebody wants to delete their account, that’s fine. If they want to reinstate it after thinking it wasn’t such a great idea, also fine. BUT when people do this repeatedly so they can do and say whatever they please, that’s not ok....🤬
Please remove what they have posted too....

Can I have some reports of the posts, the forum is vast and I don't always see these things. So some examples would be useful.

Character assassination? Looks like someone* had a fairly mild dig at someone else, unless I'm missing the post?
*yes I know who it is.

I would have said deliberately inflamatory as opposed to offering a simple personal opinion.

Character assassination? Looks like someone* had a fairly mild dig at someone else, unless I'm missing the post? *yes I know who it is. It’s about a page further back. Totally uncalled for.Find it ironic that you cannot diss anybody’s car, but it seems as if it’s open season to get personal and nasty. What I find even more ironic is ,the person who is getting crucified probably does more for RR’ers than anybody else on here. Never a hassle to drive a couple of hours out of his way to help a RR’er out with collecting or delivering a part, as many will attest to. Yet it’s perfectly fine to jump on the bandwagon and treat him like sh!t......Maybe it’s time to walk away from all of this...🤔

Just in case you couldn’t find it. Would like clarification on this. So this is perfectly acceptable on the forum then? ...but saying “these wheels look Sh!t “ is not acceptable? What’s even scarier is people actually liked that post. 😳

So this is perfectly acceptable on the forum then? "the owners suffer from a 'vanity attention seeking deficiency' or it's done in a stubborn 'I'm doing it just because I can' - I realise it sets a scene & carries support from like minded individuals but it constantly reminds of the fashion shows with catwalk models paraded up & down dressed in a outfit made from a cardboard box, a black bin liner and decorated in used tea bags that were washed in a dew pond 'Just because they can" You surely cant wade in on 99% of the forum users and expect a great outcome?

I find it very strange that only certain parts of the original thread are being quoted here , obviously some kind of agenda at play. To redress the balance and before yet another thread gets locked i will remind you of the closing remark of the original post!! So for the third time in this post I'm going to quote 'I don't appreciate modified motors much' - However I could readily find a home for this in my fleet

Screen shot for Hotwires benefit. Not to open debate on a already closed thread, 😊

I actually found it quite sad how that thread panned out just because people didn’t agree with the OP. It all became very personal. I’m surprised Chris is still on here.

I'm afraid that whenever there are forums there will be trolls who hid behind a user name and their keyboard. A lot of the time these are people who don't do a lot if anything themselves and are jealous of those who have the skill to do things or those who will have a go.
People like Grumpynortherner are invaluable to a forum like this as he freely offers advice and help to people based on his experience, thats not to say that his way is the only way of doing something but based on experience and producing a consistantly good result we should always listen to someone who does this for living and turns out high quality cars.
I'm no longer an active member of another forum (although I do still pop in and occassionaly post) because there was an issue between two members over some work done by one of them to the others car which had caused a lot of damage and some people sided with one person and some with another. When I started getting private messages from people telling me who I couldn't communicate with that was it for me.
Its the same mentallity as those people who go around car shows and pick faults with the cars loudly when the owner is stood next to them, the best way I found to deal with them was to say oh really, which one of these cars is yours and almost always they either didn't own one of it was in the garage 'being restored' where it had been for the last 10 years!

Some members / readers took my opening post as an attack on what tastes & styles that they hold - I was transparent & honest with my wording - its written upon the basis of how I viewed the modified scene - equally I also expressed that I fully respected the time, commitment, vision, effort & expense that had been committed to modified projects - and that occasionally rather than carry on to ignore the scene something might just peek my interest and I really ought to not be so dismissive of the subject matter
The thread then escalated from a few members agreeing with me to some purposefully derailing the thread where & however they could - there's a small minority out there that have the knives out for me and would rather intimidate than help others but one in particular had a clear mission planned along with his exit strategy - unfortunately at the time I was away and could not respond on the forum - its probably just as well - If what he voiced & wrote is not a character assentation then I would hate to think of what is but it's most certainly not a 'fairly mild dig' at someone
The entire 'I don't appreciate modified cars much - However' thread has been an education - its pretty obvious that some members only read what they wish to read and some how translate what they have read into 'I'll teach him' - completely ignoring the 'However' along with the 'I fully respected the time, commitment, vision, effort & expense that had been committed to modified projects' - They will extract & quote a section of a post to use as ammunition and to reinforce their own posted opinion rather than post the full context of original post in where the reasoning is effectively balanced.
I'm still on here (Not that I haven't given some consideration & thought to not being) because despite the very small inconsiderate minority who would rather attempt to make make a complete fool of others - I have over a few years got to know, appreciate, understand, help & assist where I can many, many others - I haven't met most of you personally but of the ones that I have to date its really been a pleasure - I have always shared my knowledge & experience where I can just like many others do on the forum - for me personally it's was one of the most underrated benefits of being on RR - I don't expect everyone to be into what my own passions from a vehicle prospective are and I'm sure that the majority of members operate on the same basis but there is absolutely nothing wrong with us sharing our knowledge & experience through our love of motors in general
I'm not here to seek vengeance either but @johnnybravo makes a very clear & valid point from the outset

Just in case you couldn’t find it. Would like clarification on this. So this is perfectly acceptable on the forum then? ...but saying “these wheels look Sh!t “ is not acceptable? What’s even scarier is people actually liked that post. 😳 Well two people that have been sniping at each other for months finally have a blow up and one of them flounces off. Hardly surprising. Acceptable, no. Inevitable, yes. It is Team Blitz all over again (and the others before him that I forgot already), and to a certain degree when Area52 came do dominate the forum, before imploding. This all has an inevitability about it, and it'll happen again. You don't see the majority of forum members getting in to these kinds of things, it takes a few certain types of personalities. I've relatively held my peace on the thread in question, but here we go: I should have deleted it the day it was put up, its whole approach from the very title to the closing of the first post was to get a rise out of people. Now hands will be waved "oh that wasn't the intention", but it was, for whatever reason, boredom, something to talk about, attention, whatever. The chosen car was poor in so many ways, to say you don't like modified cars and then pick that as something that represent a good modified car is either purposely inflammatory, tone deaf, or missing the entire purpose of this forum to the point of rudeness to all the other members. Now as for the antagonistic comments in the thread by someone that has deleted their account, they were also out of order, but par for the course when you set up the discourse in such a way. Take your lumps. The deleted account was no stranger to drama and frankly my life will be more peaceful and happier without it. Attention seeking behavior is extremely annoying to me. I DETEST the drama around this thread in question. I shan't be so lenient with this kind of post in the future, OP should have been deleted. Please remember the forum is bigger than a single user, no matter what their contribution may be over the years. These cliques (and yes all these people jumping up and down shouting at me are a clique and do not forget that) form and shape discourse for periods of this forum, it is a natural cycle. Like all cliques there will be fallings out and an in group and an out group. They are tolerated, but if you start to try and push the forum around and other members of the forum around in to agreeing with you on particular subjects I'll not be pleased. That's all I'll be saying on this. I'm off to find some cool cars to post.

It's quite odd on how others form an opinion and how they come it - it would appear that I no longer have that privilege - well not on here anyway - welcome to Retro Rides - it's a forum - you cant have an honest opinion and if you do we will still find fault with it - you cant like a particular car either because if you do we will still find fault with it and for good measure some of us will only half read what you post then hound you with every intent on it - I picked that car because it appealed to me - Apologies I nearly forgot I'm not allowed to form an opinion - David you are so very wrong in your above voicing & assumption about me to the point of absolute arrogance - genuinely nothing was done has attention seeking, boredom or to get a rise out people and the car was not picked has purposefully inflammatory either it was chosen has a discussion point that sometimes something modified might just interest me but it would appear there's now a new 'RR dammed if you do dammed if you don't' game to be played - talking of cliques there is probably a certain element of if your face fits too - No doubt here as to what our 'Benevolent Dictators' mission is - he'd like me gone and thinks that words in his post will do the job - how pathetic
