This is my little JDM import Hi jet. I saw it for sale in 2019 and fell in love with it's little tilt and canvas back, so with that, i bought it and a few months later it landed.
Sadly as with most of my cars it got put to one side while I worked on other things and was then further delayed with the registration as the DVLA wasnt processing any postal applications during the Covid19 lockdown.
In between jobs I removed and painted the tilt frame in gloss black, and refitted it using new stainless hardwear.
I collaborated with Gaz in making the suspension on these and ended up with the tiniest fully adjust coilovers you've ever seen!
The rear axle was flipped and relocated. Extended shackles were made to raise it up a touch as it was more or less on the floor.
The wheels were originally designed for a mk1 escort 13x7et0, The pcd on these trucks is a very uncommon 4x110 so the wheels were taken to my friends factory to be redrilled to the correct stud patten, threw on some new nankang tyres and .... it looked stupid with the wheels sticking out 2" from the arches. However it was expected.
So some abs plastic overfenders were fitted to the front arches. The rears were cut out, some 5mm bar shaped around and 1.5mm steel shaped and welded to the bar. Some original colour paint was ordered from the code on the vin plate and applied and it nearly looks oem. I wasnt sure the shape would work originally being it's so square but at the same time, everything on the rear is square so I think it 'almost' looks like it's original.
The stickers on the side are copies of what was there originally, there is another to go on the back which again was remade from what it originally had... you can see where I went over the lines with a permanent marker and then used google translate to give the correct symbols. copypasta from that to the laptop, plugged in the vinyl plotter and roberts your fathers brother.
The skateboard on the side is held in place with 2 allen keys and acts as a battery cover.
I have a few more accessories for it which will go on, but for now my friend has pinched it and using it for a few weeks while I do some work on his MAzda AZ1.
