What i have is a 998 mini engine, and nova spi inlet adapted. I'm looking at what ecu i can use.
I don't know how much of what i am about to say it correct , so i am ready to get corrected!
From what i gather, the nova had tps, a dizzy, a narrow band 02 sensor, probably a knock sensor, not much more. The nova ecu is looking for a afr of 14.7 from the narrow band, and will tune itself to seek that setting.
What is stopping me from fitting the nova ecu and loom to my mini? Will it learn to run ok with the sensors?
I was looking at the speeduino seafox, but maybe adapting a nova dizzy, or some later system fitted to a spi car like a corsa? maybe it would work better in the long run?
i doubt anyone has experience of this but, i thought id ask!
thanks

Ignition timing could be off, and the fuelling requirement may be different as well as the MAP within the intake. Injectors tend to work to a 'window' of duty, which of course is dependant on the airflow requirements of the head/engine etc. I suspect a Mini engine will need the manifold to be more 'wet' due to the siamese port design, which oddly supports the SPI or 'wet' manifold setup. If that was the case, you could chuck any ECU onto any engine and have it working, not to mention mapping would be a piece of cake, and not something quite a few struggle to do (now that's a can of worms!). I'm not saying it won't work however . I see why you think it could work mind you. A Nova dizzy would not fit without alot of adaptation (they run off the end of the head don't they? Minis run off the camshaft in the block itself tangentially near enough), enough to make a wasted spark setup alot easier to setup.

thanks for the reply. I think the nova dizzy was a bit ambitious, but was more interested in why i cant do this so i learn. I had a bmw compact with a m44 engine in it, when i made it 2000cc and put cams in it, wayne chipwizard remapped the factory ecu. I was wondering also if there was software to do this for say the corsa? I subscribe to this Bulgarian guy who calls himself CRANK, and he shows remapping a m52 ecu with the software... click hereI was just adding it all up in my head, by the time i buy the seafox speeduino, the coil pack, crank sensor, knock sensor, wideband etc, could i be more reliable to use a factory ecu?

isn't there a factory SPI system for the 998 engine?

no thats the 1275 one, and you cant do anything with it as no one has done any probing into it.
that is why i was thinking along the lines of the corsa stuff. But it seems the speeduino is the way. i just wondered, i knew it would not be able to be done, but i have learnt a bit now from asking.

To look more into ECU turning as opposed to someone saying”here I can do it”, I’d look at pinderwagen ‘a blog. He covers the finer details about trimming in the smaller parts and the difference it makes to the response of the engine etc. It sounds obvious when he says it, but then, it always is.
