Lovely looking car, I'd be carefull with the LT77 I'm on my 3rd in my TR7V8 and that's with a bog std carbed 3.5.
Given it's so light something like a MX5 1.8 or 2.0 lump will be pretty quick, you could even add a turbo kit.

strange thing about the lt77, I regularly put 330hp 3.9, did hundreds of drag starts, never an issue, the only maintenance I ever did was to re shim the input shaft to tighten up the taper bearings

The Lt77 would be ok with the 185 60r13s. My old mk1 Escort estate with the efi 3.5 & heads/fast road cams running through a narrowed 280 3:09 lsd axle was never any trouble!

How are you keeping? The old Cossie Corsair rolling shell went to it's new home about 6 months ago. I agree with you on the LT77. Mine was never any trouble in my old mk1 Escort estate. Cammed with stage 3 heads on efi. That old thing got bucket loads of abuse! Drifting, launching, etc. Mind you, 185 60r13s are easy to overcome with 240 ponies!

Thinking about it it's been the synchros which have gone on the LT77's, so not really related to power, just mileage (I have done over 100,000 miles in it).

Keep the T5 and use it on the Rover V8 I had one behind a 330bhp 4.4 Rover and had no problems at all.
