Very jealous - R8's (and Dauphines) are such cool cars. If I had the money I would buy an R8 Gordini just for the styling of that badge alone.

Jody Scheckter raced R8's early in his career in South Africa

Cosmics - borcombe also mentions in his post that he had a set on an R8 - Never really been a fan of Cosmic MK2's but those super dished ones look superb. I imagine they are pretty rare.

Looks like they are Delta Bi-metal wheels. Never seen those before - good eye to make those out on the Scheckter car

Yes the Cosmics with dish are very rare. The last time i saw some for sale were at 1000 quid refurbed Surrey somewhere. There's a great 8 which is metallic gold with a black chequered roof, which sounds awful but actually looks superb. The Delta Avanti's which i also had were a great wheel for the 3 stud rear engined cars and would probably lend themselves well to being banded, thats if they could be found. I just loved my days when younger playing with 8's and 10's and also a very dark green Caravelle which looked great with the Cosmics on. I guess that is what it's all about, trying to get back to good old days of youth and simplicity of the cars that turned us on. Just wish i/we could have seen in to the future and been a little bit more speculative about what we did with our then labours of love. Anyway i am enjoying this thread and looking forward to seeing the outcome of suggestions and reminiscences of folks all on the same page.

Copied across from my build posts on Turbo Renault ... So update time ... though the tools in my garage have been gathering dust recently my bank account is in trauma and Steve Swan up in Scotland is working away to give me a great gearbox/engine combo. So first up Steve ... well we met in a car park near the border and goods were exchanged ... updates have been coming in thick and fast, I understand about 1% of what Steve has cooking but knowing how he drives his own cars I am excited to go collect the 5 speed gearbox and 5GTT motor he has for me. The gearbox will be the ungodly union of a R5G 5 speed and my original R8 4 speed ... it promises to deliver reliability and drivability with the 5GTT motor power. The plan to install my EFI set up on my PH1 5GTT has shifted to installing it on this car .. so a trigger wheel was needed ... with so much being spent already this was no time to get cheap to a TTV 60-2 flywheel was ordered and a Valeo Green clutch to figure that element. While I have a pile of parts off the car I have started passing some on to the local powder coater to freshen as much up as possible ... mindset is patina sleeper on the outside but shiny on the inside. Then as the sun was out today it was time to start adding some speed in terms of weight reduction and sticker application ... then final update .. new and shiny has arrived from France.
