Ok, i am not one to enjoy all these stupid silly words that have come to be introduced by a certain generation, making up words that mean exactly what is contained in the English dictionary, (obviously those that can't read so have to make up their own.....) however, this question has been floating around the three corners of my mind...(the 4th corner is restricted, even to me at times!)
i am sure a lot of us have all come across this, so here we go........ example;
travelling on the motorway, or even A road doing the usual 70 to 80, happy in your own little world, then, you glance in the rear view..... there is nothing! no cars, bikes, lorries, NOTHING! very rare to see with the amount of humans getting in each others way these days! There is a def' gap/space between the sections of vehicles on the road, although it only may take a few minutes for it all to change, but....... my question is this...... although not a strange phenomenon, but definitely.....Strange? Queer? Bizarre? even odd? if you were to create a word, or maybe two (for those talented enough)... and it was to entered in the English dictionary..... what would you call this..episode?

I think Solitude would perhaps cover it, but depends on if the aspect of self is the car, or you. I generally find that whenever I go somewhere I'm in a massive queue, but when I've paid and about to leave, I turn around and I was the last one in the queue. Therefore, *I* would probably call it 'typical'

I'm not sure. But I've always like "immaculate congestion" for when a traffic jam appears for no apparent reason.

For a couple of blissful months I’ve been calling it lockdown...

It usually makes me instantly wonder if I had a trailer or something on the roof... and if so, where is it!

During the first week of lockdown when I was still going to work, I drove almost 20 miles to work and on one day I got all the way there and saw nothing. Not a bean. No one walking, no one driving. Nothing. All this on main A roads, and passing very close to a busy (usually) M25 junction. It felt wrong. Usually I get stuck in a build up of traffic in several places. The only word I can think of for it is something like vacant but there must be something more suitable. Ive had moments on the motorway early in the morning when you realise there is nothing behind you, and nothing comming towards you, and it gives you a feeling that I guess can be described a solitude. Vacant solitude?

I'll second the odd feeling, I had work far closer to London than I would ever normally agree to due to having to take the work that was available. It has been known to take 3 hours one way, was doing it in under an hour, traffic was only just starting to pick up in the last few days.
Had to work near Box Hill today and the back roads are a nightmare of non social distancing peletons of cyclists....

Very interesting guy's, you know when something starts to bug you, but not in an annoying way, and you know you want to say something about it...but.... it rarely happens, another thing i notice is the amount of times on the 'in' journey to wherever you are going, you see (for example) a lone runner, just passing a bus stop, 2 hours later, on the return journey, there, just after just before or right where you saw them...... again, very strange, same thing happened to me 3 days ago, pick up truck towing an old tractor, on the way home, at the EXACT place, pick up truck, trailer, no tractor.....

My personal favourite is joining a dual carriageway and seeing a lorry slowly trying to overtake another behind you leaving the road free ahead .
I call that having a blocker , like its happening on purpose a la Smoky and the bandit.
